Tell us first of
all a bit about
the city of
Garça.
It lays 415km
west of the
state capital,
São Paulo, close
to the sources
of two important
rivers: Peixe
and Aguapeí.
That is the
reason why we
plenty of woods,
gorges and more
than 80
waterfalls of
various heights.
Garça has great
potential for
tourism, with
18.5 hectares of
original Mata
Atlântica
tropical forest
preserved within
the city
boundaries and a
great deal more
in adjacent
rural
properties.
According to the
latest census,
the city has
44,506
inhabitants.
How many
Spiritist
organisations
are there in the
city?
Four. CEFEAC was
founded 72 years
ago, on January
1st 1945,
aimed at
studying and
helping
disseminating
the core works
of Spiritism. It
also strived to
encourage
Christian
charity and
Spiritist
practices, so
that those who
attended our
Group could
develop
Spiritually and
we could develop
a positive
relationship
with the
Spirits. We have
a medical clinic
that attends
people in need
in the Araceli
area of the
city.
What would you
say is CEFEAC’s
main area of
activity?
It is the
assistance,
within our
possibilities,
to the families
in need. We give
them soup, bread
and other basic
items. But, more
than that, we
also try to pass
on to them the
basic Christian
Teachings.
Can you mention
a landmark in
the history of
Spiritism in the
city?
The Spiritist
family
meetings.
Based on your
personal
experience, what
would you like
to say about the
Spiritist
activities
carried out in
Garça?
I can say that
there’s a strong
Spiritist
Movement in our
city. The
Spiritist Groups
have been
organising
courses, events,
talks and a
number of
activities to
disseminate
Spiritism and
the Gospel of
Jesus. The four
Spiritist
organisations in
Garça, each one
with their own
particular
aspects, offer
opportunities
for all of those
who want to work
as volunteers,
learn and, in
that way,
develop morally
and
spiritually.
