The good we do will
never be forgotten

Special theme "The various colonies and aid stations in the spiritual world," Gerson Simões Monteiro, one of the highlights of this issue, knowledge of conditions in which introduce the so called spiritual Colonies and the activities therein performed, it provides us important information relevant to the Social Service programs which we have developed or intend to develop in our communities.

The experiences and the stories collected in different spirit works dealing with the subject, five points stand out, it looks for the key in such work:

1º) The practice of goodness is mere duty.

"The Gospel of Jesus (André Luiz was told by who was his earthly mother) reminds us that there is more joy in giving than in receiving. (...) Give always, my son. Above all, never forget to give of yourself, in constructive tolerance, in brotherly love and divine understanding. The practice of exterior good is a teaching and an appeal so that we get to practice good inside. Jesus gave more of himself to the advancement of men, all of Earth's millionaires gathered in the service, although sublime, charity stuff. Do not be ashamed to bolster who have wounds and clarify the nuts who penetrate the Rectification Cameras (...). Work, my son, doing good. Whenever you can, forget entertainment and seeks useful service." (Nosso Lar - Our Home, chapter 36, p. 198.)

2º) The good we do will never be forgotten.

"In the lower circles, my son (his mother said), the bowl of soup to the hungry, the balm to the leper, the act of love to the disillusioned, are divine services that will never be forgotten in the House of Our Father." (Ibid, p. 197.)

3º) Do not conceive the relief work to the next without the spirit of brotherhood.

"Not long ago (said Laura, Lysias's mother) I heard a great teacher in the Ministry of Elevation ensure that if he could, would materialize himself in flesh plans in order to say to the religious in general that all charity to be divine, must rely on brotherhood." (Nosso Lar - Our Home, chapter 39, p. 218.)

4º) The standard first aid work in the world will always be Jesus.

"Jesus (said to Vicente, who was also physician on Earth) was not only the Master, was Doctor too. He left in the world the standard of cure for the Kingdom of God. He gave succor to the body and ministered faith to the soul. But we my dear Andrew, in many earth cases, not always relieve the body and often kill faith." (Os mensageiros - The Messengers, chapter 13, p. 74.)

5º) We must give the bread that nourishes the body, without forgetting the light that brightens the spirit.

"In the early days of Christianity (said Irene), most of those in need would contact Jesus through the humble soup or warm roof. Washing lepers, treating nuts, watching orphans and helpless elderly, the followers of Christ were a full hand to themselves, dedicated to the unfortunates, clarifying their minds, and offered lessons of substantial interest to the layman of living faith. How it is not ignored, we are doing in evangelical Spiritism the recapitulation of Christianity." (Obreiros da Vida Eterna - Workers of Eternal Life, chapter XII, p. 190)

This simple record can contribute to all those working in the industry or plan to one day devote themselves to this work so dear to us and to others.
