How To Enter The Kingdom
Of Heaven

On one occasion, while He wandered the planet leaving behind Him His lessons of love to all creatures, Jesus was approached by a very rich man who said:

- Master, I would like to follow you but I don't know how!

Jesus, a knower of everybody's heart, told him:

- Transform your life by exercising love towards your neighbor. Then come and follow me.

The man knelt down thanking the Master for His guidance and left.

Upon returning to his hometown, as he arrived home, he complained about the messy house to which his wife humbly replied:

- Mizael, our youngest son is sick with a fever and I was taking care of him.

Angry, the man left the house and went to his store. Once there he noticed that one of his customers had not paid his bill, so he went on to demand the payment to which he was entitled.

The embarrassed debtor apologized stating:

- My property has produced nothing and I find myself in a difficult situation. Have mercy, Mizael, for I will pay it all to you as soon as possible!

But the businessman had no compassion upon the man and his family sending him to prison until he had paid what he owed.

Later on, Mizael saw a beggar by the wayside, who extended his hand begging alms as he claimed to be sick. Mizael looked at the dirty ragged pitiful man and replied:

- I have no alms to give you. You should be working instead of bothering the passersby!

The poor beggar hung his head feeling humiliated by the harsh words he had heard.

When he arrived home, Mizael saw the widow of a former employee at his gate. The poor woman with three small children begged him:

- Sir, help me! As you know, when my husband died we were left in misery. My children are starving. I have nothing to give them, not even a piece of stale bread!

Full of pride, Mizael raised his head, stretched his arm out and expelled her, saying:

- My whole life I have worked so my children would lack nothing! Do as I did!

The poor bitter widow left, in tears, not having gotten even a piece of bread for her hungry children.

He entered the house, settled into his favorite spot and called his wife who brought a basin of water, took his sandals off and washed his feet as usual.

He complained angrily:

- Everyone thinks I have an obligation to help them in their needs. They do not know how much I have worked for what I have today.

The next day, he went out and saw a great movement of people. He asked what was happening and was told that Jesus was there in the city. Happy, he went looking for Jesus. He found Him in a removed part of town sitting on a rock. Jesus spoke to the people, who listened intently.

When the Master had finished speaking, Mizael tried to approach him but Jesus was sought by everybody as He attended and healed many. After a while, with difficulty, Mizael managed to approach him.

Humbly kneeling down, he asked again:

- Master, I want you to follow your steps to enter the Kingdom of Heaven! Teach me how to do it!

And Jesus, looking at him with infinite pity, said:

- Love all the needy who seek you. Only then you will have a place in the Kingdom of Heaven.

And Mizael, interested in following Jesus, upon hearing that response, remembered how he had acted with all those who had come to him the day before. He hung his head and turned away, embarrassed.

He understood that Jesus had given him the answer to his transformation and that He was aware of what he had done. So, hanging his head, Mizael walked away, determined to improve his behavior and help everyone as the Master had recommended.
