Text for reading

22. Barnabas and Saul begins his preaching to the Gentiles - There was that time in various Church of Antioch prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simon, called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Menahem, foster brother of Herod the Tetrarch, and Saul. Once, while worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, "Spare me Barnabas and Saul to do the work that they have ordained." Then after fasting and prayer, laid their hands on them and sent them. The two disciples went down to Seleucia and from there went to Cyprus. Arriving at Salamis, they announced there the word of God in the Jewish synagogues. John Mark went with them, the future evangelist. After crossing the island to Paphos, they found there a magician, a Jewish false prophet named Barjesus, who had good relations with the proconsul Sergius Paulus, whom he visited. (Acts 13:1 to 13:12.)

23. Paul succeeds in Antioch of Pisidia, but is expelled - At Antioch in Pisidia, seeing the large crowd that gathered to hear Paul's speech, the Jews were filled with envy and responded to the words of the apostle with heavy insults. Filling of courage then, Paul and Barnabas declared: "It was our first duty to preach to you the word of God. But since the refuse, and do not judge yourselves worthy of eternal life, then we will turn to the Gentiles. That is how the Lord has commanded us: I made thee light of nations, to carry the salvation to the ends of the earth. " Hearing this, the pagans were very happy and began to glorify the word of the Lord, spreading the word of God throughout the region. The Jews, however, encouraged the pious ladies of high society and the most important leaders in place, thereby moving a persecution against Paul and Barnabas and expelled them from their region. The two then departed to Iconium, full of joy and the Holy Spirit. (Acts, 13:45 to 13:52.)

24. When appointing elders, Paul and Barnabas imposed their hands - It was with great difficulty that Paul and Barnabas were able to avoid that, at Lystra, the people offer a sacrifice for them. There appeared there by some Jews from Antioch and Iconium, who managed to attract people to your side. Paul was then stoned and dragged outside the city because they thought he was dead. When the disciples gathered around him, he got up and went back to town, leaving the next day with Barnabas to Derbe. After having preached the Gospel in this city, getting up many disciples, they returned to Lystra, Iconium and Antioch, comforting the disciples and exhorting them to stand firm in faith. "We go through many hardships in order to enter the kingdom of God," taught them. Constitute elders in every church, imposing their hands, made prayers and fasting, recommending them to the Lord. On returning to Antioch, and passed through Pisidia and reached Pamphylia. Then announced the Gospel and came to Perga in Athalia, from which they returned to Antioch, where, upon arrival, the church gathered and reported all that God had done with them and how they opened the door of faith to the pagans. (Acts, 14:18 to 14:28.)

25. The controversy over circumcision is determined to satisfy everyone - Resolved to the satisfaction the controversy associated with circumcision, the representatives appointed by the meeting went down to Antioch, where he delivered the letter containing the conciliar decree. Done reading the document, all rejoiced with that message encouraging. Judas and Silas, being prophets also, exhorted and comforted the brethren with long sermons. After some time, the brothers said goodbye and they returned to those who had sent. Paul and Barnabas, but with many others remained in Antioch, teaching and proclaiming the good news of the Lord's word. (Acts, 15:30 to 15:35.)

Putting his eyes on him, he saw land animals, quadrupeds, beasts, reptiles and birds. A voice then said, Arise, Peter, kill and eat. But he said: No way, Lord, for he never entered into my mouth nothing common or unclean. The voice, hearing it, answered that call not thou common to what God has cleansed. (Acts 11:1 to 11:18.)

4. What was among the apostles of Jesus, the first victim to die by the persecutions made by Jews against Christians?

5. Imprisoned by Herod, as Peter escaped from prison?

Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains, when they came the angel of the Lord, and a light shined in the prison. Playing in Peter, he woke up, saying, Arise up quickly. And there fell from his hands the strings. When they passed the first and the second guard, they came to the iron gate that leads into the city, which opened to them by herself, and went out, down one street, and immediately the angel departed from him. Peter, who until then thought it was all a dream, made him, and said: Now I know that the Lord sent his angel and delivered me from the hand of Herod and from everything the Jewish people were expecting. (Acts 12:3 to 12:11.)
