Text for reading

14. Tabitha back to life, with the help of Peter - there was in Joppa a disciple of the Lord named Tabitha, which means "gazelle." Besides generous in alms he gave, Tabitha practiced good deeds and was therefore estimated in your city. It just so happened that she became ill and died of a sudden. Since Lydda was near Joppa, the disciples had heard that Peter was there and decided to call him, telling him: "Do not delay in coming to us." Peter received the call as soon as he departed. Arriving at the home of Tabitha, he was driven to the top floor, where was the corpse. Many widows, weeping, approached him, showing him the robes and other clothing that Tabitha did when he was with them. Peter asked them to retire from the enclosure and, once, knelt and prayed. Then he turned to the corpse, saying, "Tabitha, arise." She opened her eyes and fixing them in Peter, sat up in bed. Peter held out his hand and helped her get up. Then he called those who were close and showed live! The news spread all over Joppa and many believed in the Lord, staying for a long time Peter in Joppa at the home of a tanner named Simon (Acts 9:36 to 9:43.)

15. The vision of Cornelius leads Peter to Caesarea - There was a man in Caesarea, named Cornelius, who commanded the regiment called Roman italics. Religious and very kind, Cornelius saw one day, three o'clock in the afternoon, an angel of God come into your house and call it: "Cornelius!" He looked at the angel and he was afraid, but asked: "What I, Lord?" The angel answered,"Your prayers and your alms have come down to God and He remembered to you. And now sends some men to Joppa to bring one Simon, also called Peter. You are staying with a tanner, a certain Simon, who lives by the sea. "Cornelius did what the angel said. In Joppa, before the messengers from Cornelius arrived, Peter reflected on the meaning of a certain vision he had when a spirit told him: "Two men are looking for you. Arise, go down and accompany them without hesitation because it was me who sent them. "Peter attended the advice received and followed him to Caesarea, where Cornelius was waiting. When she saw Peter, who was preparing to enter his house, Cornelius went to meet him and fell at his feet in adoration. Peter did, however, that he stood up, saying: "Arise, for I too am a simple man." (Acts 10:1 to 10:26.)

16. God is no respecter of persons - After Cornelius told him the vision he had and the reason for the invitation he sent Peter observed: "In fact, I now understand that God is no respecter of persons, but all who love and practice are well accepted by him, whatever their nation. He sent his message to the children of Israel, preaching good news of peace through Jesus Christ, he is Lord of all. "That said, Peter recalled some episodes of the life and work of Jesus, including the facts related to his resurrection. He added: "It was he who commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he was ordained by God as judge of the living and the dead." "All the prophets give this testimony of him: who will believe in him by his name the forgiveness of their sins." (Acts 10:34 to 10:43.)

17. The gift of the Holy Spirit is not the privilege of any people - Peter was still speaking, when the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who listened to his speech. The faithful of Jewish origin, who had come from Joppa with Peter, were amazed to see that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out even on non-Jews. Indeed, they heard them speaking in different tongues and glorify God. Peter then told them: "Who can refuse the water of baptism to those who received the Holy Spirit just like us?" and decided they were all baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. (Acts, 10:44 to 10:48.)

Answers to questions

1. That result was a speech in his defense, by Stephen?

First, his opponents were angry, but before the crowd, Stephen, looking steadfastly into heaven and saw Jesus, and said, Behold, I see the heavens opened and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God. Stephen was then kicked and stoned. (Acts, 7:54 to 7:60.)

2. Besides having consented to the death of Stephen, Saul was conduct in relation to work performed by the disciples of Jesus?

Following the death of Stephen became a great persecution against the church in Jerusalem and were scattered all the lands of Judea and Samaria, except the apostles. Leading the persecution, Saul ravaged the church, entering into every house and dragging men and women, to prison. (Acts 8:1 to 8:4.)

3. Place where Philip preached the gospel of Christ and produced cures that attracted the crowd?

It was in the city of Samaria which this occurred. Philip preached the gospel and the multitudes gave heed to what he said, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did. Spirits came out of many that were possessed, crying with a loud voice, and many paralyzed and lame were healed. The apostles who were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, sent Peter and John. (Acts 8:5 to 8:14.)

4. The so-called baptism of the Holy Spirit, who was a regular procedure provided for early adopters, Peter and John were worth that feature?

They drew on the imposition of hands, with what the newcomers would receive the Holy Spirit. (Acts, 8:14 to 8:18.)

5. Philip did not stay long in Samaria. Why? And where was he?

The events were well recorded in Acts: The angel of the Lord spoke to Philip, saying, Arise and go toward the south, the path that descends from Jerusalem to Gaza, which is deserted. Behold a man of Ethiopia, a eunuch, a high official of Candace, queen of the Ethiopians, who was over all her treasure, had come to Jerusalem to worship their God; When he returned, sitting in his chariot read Isaiah the prophet.

And the Spirit said to Philip: Go up, and join this chariot. Philip approached, and to hear what Isaiah said, the eunuch asked: Do you understand you what you read? The man answered: How can I, unless someone teaches me? And he invited Philip to come up and sit with him. The text of Isaiah was this: He was led as a sheep to the slaughter, and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so he opened not his mouth. In his humiliation was taken from his trial. The eunuch asked, I beseech thee, of whom the prophet this? Himself, or some other? Then Philip opened his mouth, he said to Jesus, and soon after baptized him.

Then, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip and the eunuch, rejoicing, went his way. Philip was found later in nitrogen and, after proclaiming the gospel in all the cities where he stopped, reached Caesarea. (Acts, 8:25 to 8:40.)
