Text for reading

30. The envoy is not greater than he who sent him - After washing the feet of his disciples, including Peter, who initially had been opposed to this, the Master said to them that, indeed, the servant is not greater than the his master, nor is sent greater than he who sent him. That said, he asserted: "If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them. I speak not of you all: I know whom I have chosen: but that the Scripture might be fulfilled: He who eats bread with me, lifted up his heel against me. From now tell you before it happens, so that when it happens, believe that I am. "And concluded: "Indeed, indeed I say: If someone receiving what I send receives me, and whoever receives me receives him who sent me." (John 13:16 to 13:20.)

31. Jesus clearly reveals to John who will betray - Jesus showed John (who was reclining in the bosom of the Master) who would betray him: "It is he to whom I give a bit wet." And dipped the sop, he gave it to Judas Iscariot. After the morsel, Satan entered into him, and the Master then said, "What you do, do quickly." None of which sat at the table knew for what purpose he had said this because, as Judas had the bag, some thought that Jesus had asked him to buy whatever was necessary to the party, or to give something to the poor. (John 13:23 to 13:29.)

32. Jesus gives the apostles a new commandment - Judas received the sop from Jesus and went out immediately. It was night in Jerusalem. Once the student left, the Master said: "Now is the Son of man glorified, and God is glorified in him. If God is glorified in him, God will also glorify him in himself, and glorify him immediately”. “Little children, yet a little while I am with you. Ye shall seek me, and as I said to the Jews: Whither I go ye cannot come, I tell you even now. A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another, as I have loved you, that ye love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if you love one another". As Peter asked him where he would go, Jesus explained that this place no one could follow him, only later. Peter replied, saying: "Why cannot I follow you now? I will lay down my life. "The Lord answered him: "You lay down your life for me? In fact, you actually say that the rooster will not crow until thou hast denied me thrice." (John 13:30 to 13:38.)

Answers to questions

1. What Did Jesus teaching us to wash the feet of his disciples?

The gesture of the Master was another example of humility that he never tired of providing us with throughout his short life. (John 13:4 to 13:16.)

2. Jesus came to give, during the last supper with his companions, one who would betray him?

Yes Claiming that one of them would betray him, Jesus said it is to whom I give the bit wet. And dipped the sop, he gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon (John, 13:21 to 13:26.)

3. Moments before being handed over, Jesus gave the apostles a new commandment. That contains it?

Jesus said: "A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another, as I have loved you, that ye love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye love one another. (John 13:34)

4. What did Jesus mean by this sentence: In my Father's house are many mansions?

Jesus referred to here, with absolute clarity, the existence of other inhabited worlds in the universe and that life is not just the planet we live on. Some scholars also see here a reference to spiritual mansions that house the disembodied beings in this and other worlds. (John 14:1 to 14:3.)

5. Thomas told him that they did not know where he would. Jesus gave that answer?

Thomas' words were these: "Lord, we do not know where you are going and how can we know the way? Jesus answered him, I am the way, the truth and the life: no man cometh unto the Father except through me. If you know me, know my Father also: and from henceforth you know him and have seen. (John 14:4 to 14:7)
