Text for reading

26. The poor always ye have reminded the Master - Like Judas Iscariot protested about the fact that she spent their half a kilo of essence of spikenard, of great price, to anoint Jesus' feet, claiming that the product could have been sold for three hundred pence and this amount given to the poor, Jesus said to him: "Let her alone; for the day you saved it on my grave, because the poor always ye have with you, but you do not always have Me. " This episode took place in Bethany six days before Easter, and many among the Jews knew that Jesus was there. A crowd then went to the location not only because of Jesus, but also to see Lazarus, the same as that raised from the dead. The chief priests then decided that Lazarus, not only Jesus should be killed, because many of the Jews, because of him, went to see Jesus and believed in him. (John 12:4 to 12:11.)

27. If wheat falls to the ground, but not dies, not fruitful - the entry of Jesus into Jerusalem was triumphant, and the crowd was with him when he called Lazarus from the grave he testified that he actually raised from the dead. This fact competes for the crowd, aware that he had done this sign, you leave the meeting. The Pharisees, outraged by what they saw, colluded with each other: "You see that nothing? Here's what everyone is going after him. "Now there were some Greeks in the crowd, turning to Philip, who was from Bethsaida (Galilee), besought him saying: "Sir, we would see Jesus." Philip and Andrew forwarded the application to the Master, who replied stating: "The time has come that the Son of Man will be glorified. Actually, in truth I tell you, unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it dies, it bears much fruit."(John 12:17 to 12:24.)

28. Whoever loves his life will lose it, warned the Lord - Following Jesus taught: "Whoever loves his life will lose it, and in this world who hates his life will keep it for life eternal. Whoever serves me must follow me, and where I am, there shall also my servant. And if any man serve me, my Father honor. "Shortly afterwards, when the Lord said, "Father, glorify your name, "came a voice from heaven saying, "I have both glorified and will glorify it again. " The crowd that was there, hearing these words, said it was thunder, while others explained: "An angel spoke to him." Jesus then asserted: "This voice came not for my sake, but for your sake. Now is the opinion of this world: now shall the prince of this world cast out. And when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me. "And this he said, indicating how would die. (John 12:25 to 12:33.)

29. Whoever believes in Jesus will never remain in darkness - After teaching them and have done so many miracles before them, the truth is that Jews did not believe in the Messiah to be fulfilled the word of the prophet Isaiah, who says: "Lord, Who has believed our report? And to whom was revealed the arm of the Lord? "After all, the rulers many believed in him, but did not confess because of the Pharisees, lest they be expelled from the synagogue, because they loved the praise of men more than the glory of God. Jesus then cried out, saying: "Whoever believes in me, believes not in me but him who sent me. And whoever sees me sees him who sent me. I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness. And if any man hear my words and believe not, I do not judge, for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world. Whoever rejects me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word I have spoken, the same shall judge on the last day. Because I have not spoken of myself: but the Father who sent me, he gave me a commandment what I should say and what I should speak. And I know that his commandment is life everlasting. So, what I speak, I speak it as the Father said unto me. "(John 12:37 to 12:50.)

Answers to questions

1. Woman who anointed Jesus' feet with an ointment made of pure nard?

It was Mary, and the fact occurred in Bethany, in the presence of Lazarus, at a supper served by Marta. Mary took a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the smell of the ointment. (John 12:1 to 12:3.)

2. What was the reaction of the disciples to see the woman anointing the feet of Christ?

The disciples said nothing, but one of them, Judas Iscariot, reproached the fact, saying: "Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence and given to the poor?" According to John, he said, not that he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief and had the bag, and took from it what was put therein. (John 12:4 to 12:8.)

3. How did Jesus' entry into Jerusalem?

As soon as the people who came to the Passover feast heard that Jesus came to Jerusalem, took branches of palm trees and went out to meet him, and cried: "Hosanna! Blessed be the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord. "Jesus found a young donkey and sat upon it, as it was written: "Fear not, O daughter of Zion, behold your king is seated on the son of a donkey." The crowd left, then, to welcome you and actually became a great event. (John 12:12 to 12:18.)

4. What Jesus meant by this sentence: He who loves his life will lose it, and in this world who hates his life will keep it for eternal life?

The teaching of Jesus was established to remind us of the transience of corporeal existence. All attachment to material things and concerns transient life, rather than the things of the mind, slows the spiritual evolution, because we are not only matter, but an embodied soul, who must overcome the trials that life presents every moment, conscious of its destination and transcendental goals that brought her face to the world. (John 12:23 to 12:28.)

5. The crowd felt when Jesus told him about his death and resurrection on the third day?

Initially, the crowd did not understand what Jesus was saying, so that, according to John, she reportedly said: "We have heard the law that Christ abideth forever: and how sayest thou that the Son of man be lifted? Who is this Son of man "(John 12:32 to 12:36.)
