19. "Where I go, ye cannot come," said Jesus - as Jesus said, "I am the light of the world," the Pharisees said, "You bearest record of thyself: thy testimony is not true." Jesus answered them: "If I testify about myself, my testimony is true, because I know where I came from and where I go, but you know not whence I come or whither I go." He added: "Ye judge after the flesh, I judge no man. And yet if I judge, my decision is right, because I am not alone, but I and the Father who sent me. And in your law it is written that the testimony of two men is true. I am one that bears witness of me, and I also testify to the Father who sent me." They then asked, "Where is thy Father?" Jesus replied: "I do not know me nor my Father: if ye had known me, know my Father also." These words were spoken by Jesus in the treasury in the temple, and no one arrested him, was not yet her hour has come. Jesus said to them: "I take myself, and look unto me, and die in your sins. Where I go, ye cannot come. "They understood nothing, and Jesus added: "Ye are from beneath, I am from above: ye are of this world, I am not of this world. Therefore I said that you shall die in your sins, because if you do not believe that I am, die in your sins." (John 8:13 to 8:24.)

20. Know the truth and she will set you free, Jesus said - To the Jews who believed him, Jesus said: "If you abide in My word, then are ye my disciples and you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free." The Jews, not understanding what he said, retorted: "We are Abraham's seed, and never serve anyone how sayest thou, ye shall be free?" The Master said to them: "Verily, verily I say unto you that whosoever sin is the servant of sin. Now the servant abideth not in the house forever, the Son abideth ever. So if the Son sets you free, be free indeed. I know that ye are Abraham's seed: yet ye seek to kill me, because my word hath no place in you. I speak what I saw with my Father, and ye do that which ye have seen with your father." As they say replicating being sons of Abraham, Jesus said again: "If ye were Abraham's children, do the works of Abraham. But now ye seek to kill me, me, man who has told you the truth that God has heard, this did not Abraham." The Jews then retorted, stating they were not born of fornication, but a Father who is God. Jesus pointed out, however: "If God were your Father, ye would love me because I left and came from God not come of myself, but he sent me. Why did not understand my speech? Why not hear my word. Ye are of your father the devil and the lusts of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks from his own, he is a liar and the father of lies. But because I tell the truth, I do not believe. Which of you convicts me of sin? And if I tell you the truth, why do you not believe? Who is of God hears God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God." (John 8:31 to 8:47.)

21. Jesus is concealed to avoid the stones - Following the Master explained to them that he had not in themselves evil, before honoring the Father, and yet the Jews dishonored. "I seek not mine own glory: there is one that seeks and judges," asserted Jesus. "Verily, verily I say unto you, if anyone keeps my word will never see death." Hearing this, the Jews were angry and said: "Now we know that thou hast a devil. Abraham died, and the prophets, and thou sayest, if a man keep my word, never taste death. Art thou greater than our father Abraham, who died? "Jesus told them that Abraham rejoiced to have seen the Lord's day, and when she saw him, he rejoiced. Without understanding the scope of the Master's words, the Jews retorted: "Thou art not yet fifty years and have seen Abraham?" Jesus replied: "Verily, verily I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am." The Jews were angry with such words and picked up stones to cast at him. But Jesus hid himself and left the temple, going through them, and withdrew. (John 8:48 to 8:59.)

22. God does not hear sinners, but those that are righteous - Though the blind man at Siloam confirmed to have been cured by Jesus, Pharisees, and treated him roughly, trying to belittle the Christ, claimed: "We know that God spoke to Moses, but do not know where this is. " The former blind man said to them: "Here, then, is the marvel that ye know not whence he is, and opened my eyes. Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if someone is devout and does his will, he heareth. "He added: "Since the beginning of the world never heard that anyone opened the eyes of one born blind. If this were not from God, could do nothing." The Pharisees were indignant with these wise words and expelled. Jesus knew the fact, and found him, asked him: "Do you believe in the Son of God?" He replied, "Who is he, Lord, to believe in it?" Jesus said: "Thou hast seen, and is one that speaks to you." The former blind man told him he believed, rather, in Christ and worshiped him. Jesus replied, then: "I came into this world to court, so that those who do not see may see, and those who see may become blind." The Pharisees, surprised by what they heard, asked him: "Are we also blind?" The Master replied, "If you were blind, would have no sin: but now ye say, We see: therefore your sin remains." (John 9:28 to 9:41.)

Answers to Questions

1. What is the meaning of this phrase: "I am the light of the world whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life"?

The words of Jesus shows that, as Kardec understand the moral teaching of Christ is the infallible way of happiness expected. Who knows these teachings and tries to put them into practice is the path that leads to light, happiness, joy, and not the darkness and the darkness. (John 8:12 to 8:19.)

2. To the Jews who asked, "Who are you?". What was the response of Christ?

Jesus said, "Even that which I told you from the beginning. I have many things to say and judge you, but he who sent me is true and what I have heard him, I speak to the world." Jesus was referring to the Father, but they did not understand. Then he said: "When lifted up the Son of man, then you will know who I am and that I do nothing of myself: but I speak as my Father taught me. And he that sent me is with me. The Father hath not left me alone because I always do what pleases him." From that point, according to John, many believed in him. (John 8:25 to 8:30.)

3. What really happened to Jesus when he told people that before Abraham was he there?

The Jews were astonished at the fact that Jesus was referring to Abraham as if he knows personally. They told him then: "Thou art not yet fifty years and have seen Abraham?" Jesus replied: "Verily, verily I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am." They then considered a blasphemous phrase, picked up stones to cast at him, but Jesus hid himself, and left the temple, passing through them. (John 8:53 to 8:59.)

4. Prior to heal a blind beggar by birth, the disciples asked who had sinned that this man was born blind. What was the response of Jesus and how he healed the man?

Jesus' response was, "Neither he nor his parents sinned, but that was thus made manifest in him to the works of God. You may want me to do the works of him who sent me while it is day: the night cometh when no man can work. While I am in the world I am the light of the world." The cure was as follows: Jesus spat on the ground and made mud with the saliva, then smeared with mud to the blind eyes, and told him: "Go and wash in Siloam." The man went and washed and came seeing. (John 9:1 to 9:7.)

5. The Pharisees did not believe that the healed man was born blind, they called their parents. Who told them and also your child about the miracle performed by Jesus?

The Jews asked the parents of the man he now saw it: "Is this your son, who ye say was born blind? How then shall they see now? "His parents answered them saying:" We know that this is our son, who was born blind, but now sees we do not know, or who opened his eyes, do not know. Has age, ask him to himself, and he will speak for itself." It was clear, says John, his parents said these words because they feared the Jews. They called, then the second time the man who had been blind and said to him: "Give glory to God, we know that this man is a sinner." The former blind man said, "If you are a sinner, I know not one thing I know is that, whereas I was blind, now I see." (John 9:15 to 9:33.)
