Text for reading

54. Jesus speaks about her death and states that raised the third day - After the parable of the laborers in the vineyard, Jesus decided to go up to Jerusalem, and the way he told his twelve disciples, "Behold, we go to Jerusalem, and the Son of man is betrayed to the chief priests and scribes, and condemn it will to death. And will deliver to the Gentiles to mock, and scourge and crucify, and the third day rise again. "In this, approached him, the mother of the sons of Zebedee with her sons, to make it a request. "What do you want?" Asked Jesus. She replied: "Say that these my two sons may sit one at your right and the other at your left in your kingdom." Jesus said, "Ye know not what ye ask. Can you drink the cup that I shall drink, and be baptized with the baptism I am baptized? "They said:" We can. "Jesus then asserted: "drink indeed of my cup, but to sit at my right or my left is not mine to give, but for those for whom my Father has prepared." (Matthew 20:17 to 20:23.)

55. Who wants to be the largest, is the smallest - Upon hearing this dialogue, the other ten disciples were angry with the two brothers. Jesus called them then to join them and told them: "Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles are dominated, and their great ones exercise authority over them. Not so among you: but whoever among you wants to become great must be your servant, and whoever among you wants to be first must be your servant: even as the Son of man came not to be served but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many. " (Matthew 20:24 to 20:28.)

56. The donkey is chosen for the entry into Jerusalem - As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethpage, the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciples, saying, "Go into the village over against you, and then find an ass tied, and a colt with her: loose them and bring them to me. And if someone tells you something, you will say that the Lord has need of them, and immediately send them. " Well, it happened to be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, when he asserted: "Tell the daughter of Zion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and upon a colt, the son of animal load. " The disciples did as Jesus commanded them. (Matthew 21:1 to 21:7.)

57. "Whatever you ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive" - After being acclaimed in the temple of Jerusalem by the boys, Jesus left the city to Bethany, where he spent the night. In the morning, returning to the city, he hungered. Seeing a fig tree near the road, turned to her, but did not find it but leaves. He then said to him: "Never be any fruit from thee." And the fig tree withered away. The disciples marveled, saying, "As the fig tree withered away?" The Lord answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith and doubt not, ye shall not only what was done to the fig tree, but until you say to this mountain: Rise up and cast into the sea, so shall it be done, and whatever you ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive." (Matthew 9:17 p.m. to 21:22.)

58. The kingdom of God will be given to a nation that bears fruit - After telling the parable of the unfaithful tenants, he asked them: "When, then, comes the lord of the vineyard do to those tenants?" They said, "He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and lease the vineyard to other tenants, the its time you deem the fruit." Jesus then told them: "Have you never read in the Scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected has made the head angle, the Lord has done this, and it is marvelous in our eyes? Therefore, I tell you that the kingdom of God shall be taken and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof. And whoever falls on this stone will be shattered, but he on whom it falls will be crushed. "The chief priests and the Pharisees heard these words, they realized that Jesus spoke of them and tried to arrest him but feared the people, who considered him a prophet. (Matthew 21:40 to 21:46.)

Answers to questions

1. In what ways has the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem? And what words went with the crowd that he said?

Sitting on a donkey, Jesus entered Jerusalem, where a large crowd spread their garments and others cut branches from trees and spread them on the road. The crowds that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the Son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest! The city then was moved, saying, Who is this? And the crowd responded: This is Jesus the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee. (Matthew 21:1 to 21:11.)

2. Once entered the capital of the Jews, Jesus went to the temple. Facts that took place there?

Entering the temple, Jesus cast out all them that sold and bought, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers and the seats of them that sold doves, which he said: It is written, My house shall be called a house of prayer: but ye have converted into a den of thieves. We then have him in the temple blind and lame, and he healed them. (Matthew 21:12 to 21:16.)

3. When Jesus taught in the temple, the chief priests and elders of the people asked him who had given him authority to do so. What was Jesus' answer?

The question posed to Jesus was this: By what authority are you doing this? and who gave thee this authority? Answering them, Jesus said: I will ask you one thing, it tell me, well I will tell you by what authority do it. The baptism of John, whence was it? From heaven or from men? Others, troubled by this question, they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we say from heaven, he will say: Then why not believe him? And if we say, Of men, we fear the people, for all hold John as a prophet. They then answered Jesus and said, We do not know. The Master said to them, Neither tell I you by what authority do it. Then Jesus made them a serious warning: Verily I say unto you that the publicans and the harlots go before you enter into the kingdom of God, because John came to you on the path of righteousness, and ye believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots believed him: you, however, saw it, not after you repented to believe. (Matthew 21:23 to 21:32.)

4. Also in the temple, Jesus told the parable of the unfaithful tenants. It contains and what does this parable?

According to the parable, there was one man, family man, who planted a vineyard, surrounded it with a moat, it built a mill, built a tower, leased it out to husbandmen and went to far. Arriving at the time of the fruit, he sent his servants to the husbandmen to receive his fruits. But the husbandmen took his servants, beat one, killed another, and stoned another. Then he sent other servants, more numerous than the first: and they did unto them likewise. And, finally, sent them his son, saying, They will reverence my son. But when the husbandmen saw the son, said among themselves: This is the heir: come, let us kill him, and let us seize on his inheritance. And laying his hand, dragged him out of the vineyard and killed him. When, then, comes the lord of the vineyard do to those tenants? The parable alludes to the various prophets and missionaries sent by the Creator who, over the centuries, were ignored and persecuted by the inhabitants of this globe, a procedure that would also with the son of the lord of the vineyard, a direct reference to Jesus, who would be arrested , tortured and crucified by the men of his time. These acts, however, says the parable, not go unpunished. (Matthew 21:33 to 21:39.)

5. What is the meaning of the parable of the wedding?

As the parable, in the absence of those initially invited to the wedding, the king ordered that the invitation was extended to all people. His servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all those found, both bad and good: and the wedding was furnished with guests. When the king came to see the guests, he saw there a man who was not dressed in wedding clothes and said, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? He was speechless. Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, take him away, and cast him into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, because many are called but few are chosen. The parable may be, among other things, an allusion to the higher regions where they can not even penetrate the hardened souls whose spiritual body presents a density that does not allow them access to such areas. And it means that although the Gospel of the kingdom is for everybody, there are few who understand and practice, depriving themselves thus to penetrate certain areas accessible only to those who have already achieved a certain degree of evolution. (Matthew 22:2 to 22:14.)
