Impossible to be apart from the misery of Santa
Catarina

The topic natural disasters have already been discussed here many times. The lessons of Spiritism about this issue are well-known and clear. Many disasters, according to the superior Spirits, are result of the human carelessness; however, there are also those which are inflicted on the human creature without notice.

Some of the latter has occurred over the last few years – the tsunami in the Asian coast, the flooding in the American city of New Orleans and, and these last days, the destruction made by the rain in Santa Catarina, without mentioning earthquakes, typhoons and hurricanes that also destroy regions of our world every now and then.

Death of people of all ages and destruction of houses, with all they had inside, this is what happened to our neighbor state, a place where everybody in Brazil loves, since many families spend their vacations there.

When the people and cities of Santa Catarina are hit, we feel as if it were in ourselves. And the perennial question is: – Why, Lord?

Evidently, we don’t need to remember what has been said here over and over, but, to say to our Catarinense brothers that their misery is also ours and that we have joined every campaign possible to help, moral and financially.

The state of Santa Catarina, which the Creator has distinguished by its natural beauties, wonderful beaches and industrious people, needs to get over it and, as it happened in the past, show that it’s able to overcome the most bitter tragedies and smile again, spreading happiness to all those who live or visit there.

The Compiler of Spiritism asked the immortals if God could not employ other methods than destructive calamities for effecting the amelioration of mankind. The immortals answered that yes; and He employs them every day, for He has given to each of you the means of progressing through the knowledge of good and evil. It is because man profits so little by those other means, that it becomes necessary to chastise his pride, and to make him feel his weakness.

Allan Kardec said then that the good man succumbs under the action of these scourges, as does the wicked; is this just?: “During his earthly sojourn, man measures everything by the standard of his bodily life; but, after death, he judges differently, and feels that the life of the body, as we have often told you, is a very small matter. A century in your world is but the length of a flash in eternity, and therefore the sufferings of what you days, months, or years, are of no importance; let this he a lesson for your future use”.

This, the explanation of the occurrences that take place without people’s consent. But, whatever it is, we know it’s impossible to be apart from the misery of Santa Catarina, for which we ask here for the support of our Father and spiritual guardians who watch for Mankind.
