A True Family

They were a very special family where everyone loved each other. The parents had three children: Paul, Rubens and Leila, and life went on smoothly. There was unity, peace and love in everything they did.

One day the mother felt different and, excited, told her children that she would be a mother again. They hugged her kindly and happy because they were going to have a little brother. A few months later a beautiful boy was born and named Serene. The children were surprised with the name and wanted to know the reason behind their father's choice, to which he replied:

- I do not know! Suddenly I felt I should give the baby that name!

The siblings exchanged a look, acceptingly. Leila, the youngest, smiled at her father and considered:

- Who knows, Daddy, maybe the baby needs a name that gives him serenity?

- Who knows, sweetheart? - said the father as he smiled in agreement.

Little by little the baby grew up smiley but full of whims. Because he was the youngest, they gave him everything he wanted, and he became increasingly demanding. Over the years, he also became angry and even more demanding, especially when they did not do what he wanted. If he wanted a toy, they had to run and buy it, otherwise he would throw himself at his parents and siblings, shouting and beating them with his feet and hands:

- I want it! I want it! I want it!...

One day, full of goodwill, Leila went out to buy what he wanted. Serene had screamed so loudly that she ran off to get what he had asked for. She came back and handed him the toy

but he threw himself on the floor, yelling:

- That is not the one I wanted! It is not that one!

- Serene, but that's the one you asked for, honey!

- That is not it! It is of another colour! ...

- Oh! But it was sold out. They only had this one left in the store, Serene!... All right, all right... Stop screaming. I'll look in another store. Hang on!

Serene stopped crying and waited for her sister to bring him the toy. But to their father and mother that was the last straw. They gathered the family after Serene, tired of crying and kicking, fell asleep, and told them very seriously:

- My children, something is wrong with Serene’s education. His attitude is not normal and I cannot accept the screams, punches and kicks, with which he harms you. You should not be at the receiving end of Serene’s attacks. Do you have any suggestions of what we could do?

- Well, I think we should pray a lot for him, Dad - Rubens suggested.

- And I think he also needs limits! - considered Paul, to which Leila agreed and added:

- Dad! I'm afraid of what he might do! There are times when he is unrecognisable. He will only calm down when he gets what he wants!

Her siblings agreed with her, and their father, looking at his wife, whose eyes were full of tears, said:

- I understand your fears, my children. However, if he was reborn in our family, it is a sign that he needs to be controlled and educated. So I decided that we are going to take strong action against Serene. He will not get anything more with crying and screaming. If he keeps doing that, he'll be locked in his room until he calms down. And no one will interfere, understood?

Everyone agreed. And the father continued:

- As spiritists, we know how to act. So, every night, we will pray for him, give him healing and magnetise water for him to drink.

That same day, the father warned Serene that he would not get anything else by shouting and kicking. If he insisted, he would be grounded until he calmed down.

Thus decided, at night they said a prayer asking Jesus to bless Serene, and when they were finished, they took the glass of water to little Serene's room.

The days passed, and by the end of fifteen days everything was much better. Serene did not shout anymore, he did not beat his siblings and respected orders.

One day, Serene woke up very sad. At the breakfast table, his father asked him what had happened, and he explained in tears:

- Dad, I had a strange dream! I dreamed that I was a very strong warrior and that you guys were against me. So I attacked and killed all of you! I was terrified when I recognised you. Yes, you were all there, fighting me!... But I was your brother, Dad, and I wanted to take your castle!

Serene hung his head and cried a lot. Then he wiped his eyes and said:

- Are you mad at me?

- Of course not, son! We love you very much! - said his father, embracing him with love.

The others also hugged him, relieved to see how much Serene had changed. He wiped his eyes again and asked:

- Now, I'm really serene, right, Daddy? Are you angry with me?

- No, my dear son! We love you very much. What

happened in the past does not matter. Now we love you. You are part of our family!...

- Do you all forgive me? I think I was the one who was angry with you. But now it's all over!...

Everyone came around to embrace Serene, and he corresponded with a smile, feeling in peace!...
