Letter to the reader

Year 17 - 836 - August 13, 2023

Consolador's spiritual condition is the primordial essence of Spiritism

The thought contained in the sentence above was expressed by our interviewee this week, professor and writer Francisco Erionilton Ivo de Sousa, from Fortaleza (CE), where he was born and works at the Francisco Spiritist Studies House Society (Sociedade de Estudos Espíritas Casa de Francisco), in which he is coordinator of the activities that the institution promotes. The interview he kindly gave us is one of the highlights of this issue.

Another highlight is the special O Espírita, by Juan Carlos Orozco, a Spiritist scholar based in Brasília (DF). In his article, he initially explains why Allan Kardec created the terms Spiritism and spiritist, and then explains important themes, such as spiritist morals and ethics and the position of Spiritism as a philosophy of life.

On August 1, 1865, a new work by Allan Kardec, Heaven and Hell, appeared in Paris, whose main objective is to explain Divine Justice in the light of spiritist teachings, as our writing colleague Ana Moraes shows us in an article that we publish in this issue.

Last week, specifically on August 4th, our esteemed collaborator Humberto Werdine Júnior, 72 years old, returned to the spiritual homeland. A miner from Itajubá, Humberto was married to Claudia Werdine and the father of four children. We send him and his family our best vibes and feelings from here, with our gratitude for everything he did to spread Spiritism everywhere he lived, especially in Europe, where he lived for many years.
