Nadir Anacleto de Araújo:

“Working at Spiritist book fairs is a great opportunity to develop our spiritual side”

Our interviewee, who works at a volunteer at the Spiritist Book
Fair in the Brazilian city of Volta Redonda, talks about
his experience at the event

Nadir Anacleto de Araújo (photo) is a member of the Spiritist Centre Amor ao Próximo (Love Thy Neighbour) in the city of Volta Redonda, in the Brazilian state of Rio de Janeiro. He is a volunteer worker at the traditional Spiritist Book Fair of Volta Redonda (known by the Portuguese acronym, FLE-VR), which will have its 28th edition in 2016. In this

interview, he speaks about his experience at the event along the years:

I have followed closely your efforts and your rewards involving the Book Fair, which will soon getting into its 30th edition. How do you feel about it?

It has been a great opportunity to hear the diverse thoughts and views of so many people.

What is the most striking memory of all these years?

I believe it was a year – and do not remember now when that was – when the area where we were holding the event was flooded by a storm. I could witness the extra effort put out by each one there to get ready for the opening event.

What is generally the most remarkable aspect of book fairs?

It is the help we get from the Spiritual Benefactors. How much help do we get from the Spirit World at every stage to get the event running!

What is the reaction from people who attends?

I began taking part in the event in its fifth edition. In the first few years, I noticed people were curious and eager to find the books mentioned and recommended by many high profile Spiritists. I notice people who come for the first time are usually curious to find out what is going on.

What have you learned from all those years dedicated to the FLE-VE Book Fair?

Firstly, I learned to understand the level of knowledge of other people without making judgements about their level of understanding of Spiritism. And I have also understood the need to look for more work within Spiritism and the need of taking part in more study groups.

What would you say to someone who has the opportunity of working at a Book Fair?

Working at Spiritist book fairs is a great opportunity to develop our spiritual side. We learn a great deal just by browsing the books on display. We must also bear in mind that we need to let people who attend at ease, giving them the opportunity first to tell us what they are looking for.

What would you tell your younger self at the very first edition of the book fair?

I would thank God and Jesus for the opportunity to share a bit of my life with the first friends I made within Spiritism, when I had great opportunities to talk about the Teachings…

Is there anything else you would like to add?

I would like to say that the Spiritist Centre Amor ao Próximo, of which I am a member, has a group called Esperança (Hope), which made a very special presentation at the opening ceremony of the 24th FLE. That was really a very special moment for the dissemination of the Book Fair. I would like to thank you for this opportunity, praying for God, Our Father, and Our Master Jesus, to carry on caring for you.
