The Royal Swan

In a beautiful lake, a cute little duck was playing and having fun with her siblings. The day was beautiful and the sun shone above them.

As they left their mother, she told them:

- Have fun in water but beware of the animals that you do not know, my babies. They can be dangerous!

- All right, Mom. Do not worry, I'll take care of them - said the little duck who was a little bigger and who loved her little siblings very much.

So, they crossed the small pasture and

reached the lake. Happy, they threw themselves in the fresh water, having fun as they swam.

That day, however, a beautiful royal swan had arrived at the farm, full of pride of his origin and his beauty. Seeing the swimming ducklings, full of arrogance, he said angrily:

- What?!... I will have to share this space with these despicable ducklings?

And so saying, he raised his beautiful wings, aggravated, and hit the water with them, unable to accept such humiliation.

Doca, the little duck, shook the water from her wings and said:

- But you should know, Mr. Royal Swan, that we have been bathing in this lake for a long time now. And you? Who are you to complain so? Are you the owner of the lake, by any chance?

The Royal Swan, with a scornful expression looked to the other side, then turned, saying:

- I am of a noble family, young lady, and I was brought to this property to bring grace to this farm, where there are only birds like you, poor and ugly ducks!

And, as he spoke, the Swan lifted his beautiful and large wings, showing himself off to the ducklings.

Humiliated, the little duck Doca, hearing the words of the Swan, hung her little head, ashamed of their smallness.

And the swan, after that display in front of ducklings, went away swimming, full of poise and arrogance, while they watched full of admiration.

Right then, watching him from afar, Doca noticed that the beautiful Swan seemed to be in distress because he was beating his big wings but not moving.

Doca, owner of a good and noble heart, and concerned for the Swan who did not know that lake, swam as fast as she could, to find out what was happening, followed by her siblings.

As she approached, Doca saw that the beautiful Swan was stuck in branches which, during heavy rains that occurred in that place, had been hidden by the water. Then the little duck got closer, dove and saw the branch where the swan was stuck. Alone, however, she could not free him. So she called the other ducklings to help her remove the branch that held the Swan.

- We have to be quick! - she exclaimed. - The more the Swan moves, the more he will get stuck to the branches. Come on! I'll show you guys how to free him.

Thus, Doca dove again and showed her little siblings what they should do, removing branch by branch until the Swan could be free.

Thus, in a short time the beautiful Swan was free. Embarrassed, he thanked Doca and her little mates who had released him.

- I thank you from the bottom of my heart for the help you have given me! And I am ashamed by the offensive words that I said to you when we met for the first time.

Doca with a coy face, replied:

- Do not worry, Mr. Swan. We were not offended by your words.

- But I should not have said those horrible things to you!

Doca shook her little head and generously responded:

- But you are much better and more beautiful than us, that's a fact! We admire you a lot, isn't it, kids?

The ducklings nodded their little heads, smiling and full of admiration in agreement.

The Swan, now humbler, hanging his head, acknowledged:

- But what good is my beauty and my pride, if I could have died stuck to simple tree branches, were it not for the help I received from you? You were very effective in the help you provided me and I will be grateful to you for the rest of my life.

The beautiful Swan stopped talking, looked at each one of them and said, opening his beautiful wings:

- Friends? Will you forgive me?

Doca and the ducklings swan fast to get themselves wrapped by the beautiful and huge swan wings, that welcomed them fondly.

- Mr Swan, I'm glad that we will be friends from now on! And, if you need us, we will be there... - Doca answered.

The beautiful Royal Swan said sadly:

- When I was bought and brought here, I lost my family... I am now alone in the world... I would like you to consider me your family!

- Of course! Now we will be one family! Come with us, Swan. Let us introduce you to our mother. I'm sure she will receive you with open wings!...

From that day on, feelings of true friendship and companionship were born between the family of the ducklings and the beautiful Royal Swan, who now understood that we are all children of God and that no one is greater or less than anyone else. We are just different!
