8 years of magazine O Consolador (The Comforter)
Someone asked us how this magazine can be doing eight years at this day - April 5th, 2015 - if its first edition circulated on April 18th, 2007.
Since the same question may arise in the mind of other readers, we try to solve it in this text.
Let’s recall that initially called the calendar year is different from the commercial year.
Calendar year is the 12-month period corresponding to 365 days a year, starting from January 1st to December 31st. In Brazil, the calendar year was defined by Law No. 810 of September 6th, 1949, signed by President Eurico Gaspar Dutra. According to the law, every four years it adds up an extra day in February, bringing the total to 29 days, in order to maintain the adjusted annual calendar with Earth translation movement, from the calendar year to have 366 days, which it is why it is called a leap year.
In Accounting and Financial Mathematics, in order to simplify calculations involving dates, each month of the year is agreed as having 30 days and the year is therefore considered to have 360 days. This is what we call the business year.
Since the magazine O Consolador (The Comforter) came, it was agreed that it would be weekly, but not publish new edition in the last week of the year.
The year of this magazine is formed, then, for 51 issues. As this issue is the number 408, we are completing this date eight years of activities of the magazine O Consolador (The Comforter), whose numbers in terms of players and affected countries increase every month.
As it is shown in the special "The Comforter comes to 8 years," one of the highlights of this edition, this magazine has reached at this week a staggering of 27 million impressions, counted from the magazine's founding in 04/18/2007 until the day 03/31/2015, last Tuesday, with 122 the number of countries where it has been accessed during the same period.
The figures prove the strength of the Internet, a valuable tool for the dissemination of knowledge that is here to stay and allowed the strengthening not only of books, newspapers and webzines, but also the advent of web radio and web TV stations, which form a true global village where no one can be considered isolated, no matter where they reside.
The advent of O Consolador (The Comforter) magazine is contemporary in the appearance of many Spiritism enterprises that have the Internet its fundamental instrument. The years 2006, 2007 and 2008 saw the birth of numerous works of this nature that have contributed effectively to the popularity of Spiritism and enlightening of vast sections of the population who are interested in issues relating to it.
In concluding eight years of work, we know that our responsibility is even greater and that, more than ever, we need the support of all those who over the years have been on our side, that the excellency of communication tool - that is the internet - has its counterpart in the quality of the materials posted here.
