A chat with Maria
José Maritan, from
Três Corações-MG

This week’s editorial "The disguises we use in the world" comments on the idea, present in Kardec’s work, that physical bodies are merely disguises with which the spirits come into this world to progress.

Maria José Maritan Cavalcante de Albuquerque, from Três Corações-MG, is our interviewee today. In the interview, she talks about the social work started in her city by Captain Vendramini, one of the great figures of the local Spiritist movement. The article, written by Orson Peter Carrara, is one of the highlights of this edition.

Another highlight is the special article titled "Facing Death," by José Passini, member of the Editorial Board of this journal. In the article, Passini says it is deeply strange that creatures are so painfully unprepared in the face of the only certainty common to us all: the certainty of death.

A special ceremony honoring the speaker Divaldo Franco was held on November 6th in the House of Representatives in Brasilia-DF. One of the legislators present was Congressman Colbert Martins, author of the tribute project to the medium, as shown in the report that we published in this edition.

On a day like yesterday - November 15th – the 1st Brazilian Congress of Spiritist Journalists was held in Rio de Janeiro in 1939 the. Conceived and chaired by Deolindo Amorim, this important event, which did not count on the support of the Brazilian Spiritist Federation, was held at the Brazilian Press Association.
