The greatest gift of all

Whenever it comes to charity is important to remember that its key ingredient is love, a subject which we refer in the text entitled "Charity and its ingredient key", published in issue 111 of this magazine. Here's the link:

As we know, usually in our midst charity splits into two groups – moral charity and material charity.

Patience, forbearance, affectionate treatment would be expressions of moral charity.

Assistance to those who go through hardship, the financial maintenance of a philanthropic activity, material aid to those in need, here are expressions of material charity.

We have nothing against this division, with only one restriction to both, in the act cannot miss the feeling of love, without it which we can give it any name except the charity.

Referring to the theme, Emmanuel highlights another aspect pertinent to call material charity.

When we give something to someone, says Emmanuel, it is needed to know if we give what we have or what we detain.

Here are the considerations made by known instructor on a proposal of Jesus recorded in chap. 11, verse 41 of Luke's Gospel:

"Give what you have is different to give what we own. Charity is sublime in all aspects under which it reveals to us, and under no circumstances should we forget the admirable self-denial of those who distribute bread and clothing, medicine and relief to the body, learning solidarity and teaching it.

It is fair, however, point out that the fortune or authority are assets we hold provisionally during the common gait and in the substantial foundations of life, do not belong to us.

The owner of all the power and all the wealth in the universe is God, our Creator and Father, who lends funds to men, according to the merits or the needs of each.

Let us not forget, as well, the donations of our intimate sphere and ask ourselves:

What do we have to give from ourselves?

What kind of emotion are we communicating to the others?

What reactions do we provoke to the others?

What do we distribute with our struggle daily comrades?

What is the stock of our feelings?

What kind of vibrations do we spread?" (Fonte Viva, ch. 60, psychographics by Chico Xavier.)

Following the reproduced text herein, Emmanuel reminds us that it is fundamental to amass in our spirit reserves of good understanding, friendship and understanding in the service of the good of all those around us, near or far.

He adds:

"It is always reduced the charity that feeds the stomach but it does not forget the offense, which is not available to serve directly or not lit light for ignorance.

The warning from the Divine Teacher at Luke’s notes means: - Give alms of your intimate life, help for yourselves, scatter joy and good cheer, growth opportunity and high with your fellows, be brothers dedicated to the next, because in fact the love that radiates blessings of happiness and work, peace and confidence is always the greatest gift of all."
