Allan Kardec

(Part 4)

We continue the methodical study of the Pentateuch Kardec, which focuses on the five major works of the spiritual doctrine, in the order they were first published by Allan Kardec, the Encoder of Spiritualism.

The answers to the questions suggested for discussion was the end of the text below.

Questions

A. The human form is also found on other worlds?

B. What causes men doubt about the manifestations of spirits?

C. What happens to man after physical death?

D. What is man?

Text for reading

31. The good spirits do not ever inflate the bitterness and discord. (Item 50)

32. The belief that the soul and spirit are two different things perispirit is founded on the teachings of the enlightened spirits, which never varied in this respect. We did not invent or we assumed the perispirit to explain the phenomena, their existence was revealed to us by spirits and confirmed her observation. (Item 50)

33. This view is supported further study of the sensations of spirits, and especially the phenomena of tangible apparitions, which would, according to a contrary view, solidification and the breakdown of the constituent parts of the soul and therefore its disorganization. (Item 50)

34. The intimate nature of the soul is unknown to us. When we say that the soul is immaterial, it is necessary to understand this statement in your direction relative and not absolute, because the absolute immateriality would be nothing, now, the soul is something. What we mean is that its essence is more than just luck that has no analogy with what we call matter, and so for us it is immaterial. (Item 50)

35. Spirits could not advance further probe the nature of the soul, how could we do it? It is, therefore, want to spend time scanning the principle of things, which, as stated n 'The Book of Spirits, is the secrets of God. (Item 51)

36. The idea we form of spirits makes at first sight incomprehensible manifestations of the phenomenon. These statements can not take place except by action of the Spirit over matter, so those who think that the Spirit is the absence of all matter, ask, and with some semblance of reason, how can he act materially. (Item 53)

37. The Spirit is not, however, an abstraction, a being is defined, limited and circumscribed. When incarnated in the body is the soul, when the leaves by death, does not come without housing. Everyone tells us that keep the human form, and indeed, when we appear in this form is that we see. (Item 53)

38. Death is the destruction, or rather the rough breakdown of the housing - the physical body, the soul then leaves, the other shell, called perispirit, if freed from the body and follows the soul, that in this way, you realize you always have a housing. The latter, though fluid, ethereal, vaporous, invisible to us in its normal state, there is more than matter. (Item 54)

39. They said that the Spirit is a flame, a spark, a flash, this is meant the Spirit itself, such as intellectual and moral principle, and which does not know how to assign a given, but in any degree he is found, is always covered with a wrapper or perispirit, whose nature is eteriza as it purifies and rises in the hierarchy. Thus, the idea of form is inseparable from the Spirit and not conceive one without the other. (Item 55)

40. The perispirit is then part of the Spirit, as the body is an integral part of man, but the perispirit alone is not the Spirit, as the body alone is not the man, because the perispirit not think. It is for the Spirit as the body is to man, is the agent or instrument of action. (Item 55)

Answers to questions

A. The human form is also found on other worlds?

The human form, except for some details, is found in people of all globes, at least so they say spirits. It is also the shape of all spirits and not embodied with only the perisprit as envelope, that is still under which, at all times represented are angels or pure spirits. We can therefore conclude that the human form is the type of all human beings of any degree to which they belong. (The Mediums' Book, item 56.)

B. What causes men doubt about the manifestations of spirits?

One reason that contributed to fortify the doubt, at a time as positively as ours, which requires care of everything, that one wonders why and how each thing is the ignorance of the nature of spirits and the means by which can manifest themselves. Acquired this knowledge, the fact of the demonstrations is not surprising and enter thus the order of natural facts. In fact, the idea we have of spirits makes, at first glance, incomprehensible manifestations of the phenomenon. They can not take place except by action of the Spirit over matter. But if you think the Spirit is the absence of all matter, ask, with relative reason, how can he act materially. Now, here is the error, because the Spirit is not an abstraction, it is a defined being, limited and circumscribed. (Ibid., items 52 and 53.)

C. What happens to man after physical death?

By the time they end up leaving the bodily life, individuals are in a state of disturbance, all around them is confusing; see her perfect body or mutilated according to the kind of death, on the other hand, see and feel alive; some something tells them that this body was theirs, and do not realize they are separate from it. Continue to be seen in its primitive form, and this produces in some order, for a time, a singular illusion: if the judge still incarnate, they lack the experience of their new state to be convinced of the reality. After this first time of disturbance, the body becomes for them an old garment which is stripped and of which they keep missing, feel lighter and almost clear of a burden, no longer experience physical pain and are very happy to potential to grow, the space bridge, as did many times in his dreams. However, despite the absence of the body, they find their personality, they have a way that does not embarrass; have, finally, the awareness of your self and your individuality. (Ibid., item 53.)

D. What is man?

Numerous irrefutable facts and observations led us to the conclusion that there are three elements in man: first, the soul or spirit, intelligent principle which resides in the moral sense; second, the body shell coarse material, covering it temporarily so that can perform certain charges providential; third, the perispirit, fluidic envelope, semi-material, which serves as the link between soul and body. Death is the destruction, or rather the rough breakdown of the housing, the soul leaves. The other shell breaks free and follows the soul, which thus realizes always have a shell: the perispirit. (Ibid., paragraph 54.)
