The Spirit’s Book

Allan Kardec 

(Part 12) 

We continue the methodical study of the Pentateuch Kardec, which focuses on the five major works of the spiritual doctrine, in the order they were first published by Allan Kardec, the Encoder of Spiritualism.

The answers to the questions presented, founded in the 2th edition published by FEB, based on translation of Anna Blackwell, are at the end of the text below.

129. Pythagoras, how we know, is not the creator of the system of metempsychosis, which took the Indian philosophers and Egyptian media, where it existed since time immemorial. (L.E., 222) 

130. The antiquity of this doctrine, therefore, rather than being an objection, should be before a race in his favor. There are, however, between the metempsychosis of the ancient and the modern doctrine of reincarnation of the great difference that the spirits reject in the most absolute, the transmigration of the human in animals and vice versa. (L.E., 222) 

131. Some people repel the idea of reincarnation on the sole ground that it does not suit them. (L.E., 222) 

132. Questions relating to past and future of individuals can be multiplied to infinity, because the psychological and moral problems that have no solution, except to the plurality of existences, are innumerable. The doctrine of reincarnation is therefore eminently moral and rational. Now, what is moral and rational cannot be opposed to a religion that proclaims God's goodness as the reason par excellence. 133. The principle of reincarnation is clear from many passages of Scripture and is specially formulated explicitly in the Gospel. (L.E., 222) 

134. The teachings of the spirits is essentially Christian: it supports the soul's immortality, in future rewards and punishments, the free will of man, the morality of Christ, and therefore is not anti-religious. (L.E., 222) 

135. The doctrine of reincarnation, and confirmed by facts and logic, is the one that explains what, without it, is inexplicable. Moreover, it is eminently consoling to justice and as more rigorous, and to man the salvation that God gave him, in his mercy. (L.E., 222) 

136. The erratic, is the state of the Spirit in the range of different incarnations, is not a sign of inferiority, because there are wandering spirits of all degrees. The incarnation is a transitional state. (L.E., 225) 

137. As a state, the spirits may be, incarnate, that is linked to a material body, wandering, or disconnected from the body and waiting for a new incarnation to improve, pure spirits, that is perfect and no longer needed the incarnation . (L.E., 226) 

138. The wandering spirits are more or less happy or unhappy, according to his merits. (L.E., 231) 

139. When it leaves the body, the Spirit still belongs to the world he lived in a world or the same degree, unless during his lifetime, has been raised. Spirits have been purified to the lower worlds often in order to help them progress, without it, these worlds would be left to themselves without guides to guide them. (L.E., 233) 

140. There are worlds for particular beings wandering worlds they can inhabit temporary, special camps, places where they can rest from erraticity very long, which are always a little painful. (L.E., 234) 

141. With the aim to be educated and able to more easily obtain permission to go places that best meet the spirits in these worlds. (L.E., 235) 

142. These worlds are temporarily barren: there is no incarnation of spirits there. (L.E., 236-236-A and B) 

143. The Earth during its formation, has served as home to wandering spirits. It is seen therefore that there is nothing useless in nature: each thing has its purpose, its destination, nothing is empty, it is inhabited, life expands everywhere. (L.E., 236-236-D and E) 

144. The more they approach perfection, the more you know the spirits. The above therefore know very, the lower ones are more or less ignorant in all matters. (L.E., 238) 

145. Spirits do not see what we see and judge, so different from us, but it also depends on your elevation. (L.E., 241) 

146. The past, when the spirits become aware of it, is like the present. But all they can know, starting with their own creation. (L.E., 242) 

147. After death, the soul sees and embraces a glimpse of their past migrations, but cannot see what God has prepared, and for that it needs to be integrated n 'He, after many lifetimes. Knowledge of future depends on the perfection of the Spirit, who sees the future more clearly as it rises. (L.E., 243) 

148. Only the higher spirits can see and understand God, only the lower spirits and feel divine. When a thing should not be made or a word must not be said, they feel like an intuition, an invisible warning that inhibits to do it. (L.E., 244 and 244-A) 

149. To communicate with God you must earn it. God conveys his orders by spirits who are in perfection and higher education. (L.E., 244-B) 

Answsers to questions 

A. What is the length of intervals between the different physical existences? 

These intervals last from few hours to a few thousand centuries. Properly speaking, there is no limit to the extreme state of errata that can greatly extend but never is perpetual. Sooner or later, the Spirit will have to return to an existence appropriate to cleanse it of the stains of their previous existences. (The Spirit's Book, questions 223, 224, 224-A and 225.) 

B. What is Wandering Spirit? he also is in progress when erraticity?  

Wandering Spirit is the condition of the soul in the range of incarnations. The erratum is not in itself a sign of inferiority of the spirits, because there wandering spirits of all degrees. According to the spiritual doctrine, one can say that it is all wandering spirits who are not incarnate and still have to reincarnate, but the wandering spirits erraticity also in progress. (Ibid., questions 224, 227, 230 and 231.)

C. There are worlds for the wandering spirits?                             

Yes, there are worlds particularly intended for wandering beings, worlds that they can serve as temporary housing, bivouacs species in fields where a rest too long erratic. (Ibid., question 234.)

D. The Spirit has the same perceptions that people have?  

Yes, and others that have not had, because the body, like a veil thrown over them, obscuring them. Intelligence is an attribute, which is expressed more freely in the Spirit, the less you have to overcome obstacles. (Ibid., questions 237, 240, 245, 246, 248, 249 and 249-A.) 

E. The Spirits can see God?              

Only the higher spirits see and understand God. The lower and only feel divine. (Ibid., question 244.)
