The role of book in the dissemination of Spiritism

In the late
90's, speaking to spiritists leaders of Paraná, Divaldo Franco and Raul Teixeira, analyzing the situation of the Spiritism movement in the five continents of the globe, said one of the difficulties in the expansion of the Spiritualist movement in much of the planet was exactly the lack or insufficiency of spiritist works published in the spoken language in different countries.

It was this information, which is obviously very important, which led us to include in our electronic magazine some texts translated into English and Spanish, in order to we could transmit spirit information - even partially - to a large number of people who have familiarity with the languages mentioned.

Thus, five of the main works published in our editions, beyond the Letter to the reader, it is placed weekly, who speaks English and Spanish.

The years went by and today the situation seems to us significantly favorable in terms of availability of spiritist books published in several languages. Thanks to the work of the International Spiritist Council, in partnership with the Brazilian Spiritist Federation, which it has been publishing numerous titles in different languages, with emphasis on the work of Allan Kardec and Chico Xavier.

No site que mantém na internet – www.edicei.com – o Conselho Espírita Internacional relaciona as obras já publicadas, permitindo ao interessado saber quais são os idiomas nos quais existem livros disponíveis.

On its website - www.edicei.com - the International Spiritist Council lists the published works, allowing interested to know what are the languages in which books are available.

Eis alguns dados que colhemos no mencionado site:

Here are some data that we collected in the aforementioned site:

- In English, the CEI has published six titles in the series André Luiz, two novels of Emmanuel and more the books Jesus in the Home, the Good Primer, Message from Small Dead and Our Father.

- In Spanish
, 5 titles in the series André Luiz, one title in the series Viva Source and more Mediums’ Seara, Divine Justice, Religion of the Spirits, the Good Primer, The Spirit of Truth, Life and Sex, and Life and Message of the Small Dead.

-
In German, Our Home, The Messengers, Primer of Good and Message from Small Dead.

- In French
, André Luiz entire series, the five novels of Emmanuel, the whole series Viva Source and more books The Comforter, The Way of the Light and Jesus in the Home.

-
In Russian, 6 titles in the series Andre Luiz and the book 2000 years ago.

-
In Hungarian: Christian Agenda.

It is noteworthy that the above list is not related works of Kardec that the distributor CEI provides in different languages. In addition that a significant number of other books are in the process of translation, which shows the dynamism and arrangement that the International Spiritist Council is applying to the task.

In the Virtual Library maintained by this journal:
http://www.oconsolador.com.br/linkfixo/bibliotecavirtual/principal.html
- the reader also finds some reading and even downloading the basic works of Spiritualism, written by Kardec, as well as works by important authors as Léon Denis and Gabriel Delanne, edited in the main languages spoken in Europe and also in Esperanto.

The work of spirit disclosure
outside Brazil presents itself this way easier, although it does not depend only on books, since it requires the ongoing and persevering work of all those who understand how important it is to make known the spiritual doctrine
of all.
