Text for reading

1. Spiritualism is the opposite of Materialism: Whoever believes that it has something in it besides the matter is spiritual, but it does not follow that you believe in spirits or in their communications with the visible world. That's why there was a need for neologisms "Spiritualism," "spirit" and "spiritist", created by Kardec. (Introduction, I)

2. The Spiritism Spiritist doctrine or principle is the relationship of the material world with spirits, or beings of the invisible world. As a specialty, the Book of Spirits contains the spiritist doctrine, as generally binds to the spiritist doctrine, which has one of the phases. (Introduction, I)

3. The vital fluid would not be anything other than the electric fluid animating can be also referred to as magnetic fluid, so fluid nervous. (Introduction, II)

4. The spirit world is the normal world, primitive, and eternal, existing and surviving it all. The world body is no more than secondary level would no longer exist or never have existed without changing the essence of the spirit world. (Introduction, VI)

5. The material life is proof that the spirits should be subjected repeatedly to achieve absolute perfection, is a sort of debugger that they leave more or less purified. (Introduction, VI)

6. The incarnation of spirits there is always the human species. It would be a mistake to believe that the soul or spirit could be incarnated in a body of animal. (Introduction, VI)

7. Spirits have on the moral world and even about the physical world an unceasing action. His relations with men are constants. The good spirits and to invite us, sustain us in life's trials and help us bear them with courage and resignation. The ill invite us to evil: for them is a pleasure to see us and so, we resemble succumb to their condition. (Introduction, VI)

8. Distinguish between good and evil spirits is extremely easy. The language of the higher spirits is always dignified, noble, full of the highest morality. Free of any less passion, her advice reveal the purest and wisdom have always targeted our progress and the good of humanity. (Introduction, VI)

9. Selfishness, pride, sensuality, are passions that bring us closer to animal nature, attaching us to the matter. The man who is freed from matter, by the contempt of worldly vanities and cultivation of love of neighbor, comes to the spiritual nature. (Introduction, VI)

10. Each of us must become useful, according to the faculties and the resources that God has placed us in hand to prove ourselves. The strong and powerful must support and protect the weak. He who abuses his power and his power to oppress his neighbor, violates the law of God. (Introduction, VI)

11. There is an unredeemable fault that cannot be erased by the atonement. Man finds the means necessary to do so in different stocks, which allow you to move, according to his wishes and his efforts in the way of progress toward perfection, which is their ultimate goal. (Introduction, VI)

12. The science itself, as science is incompetent to rule on the question of Spiritualism. Spiritism is the result of a personal conviction that the sages may have, as individuals, regardless of their status as scholars. (Introduction, VII)

13. Superior spirits do not attend meetings but serious, and especially those in which reigns a perfect communion of thoughts and good feelings. The frivolity and idle the questions away. (Introduction, VIII) (Continued next issue.)

Answers to questions

A. What is Spiritualism principle and containing "The Spirit’s Book"?

The Spiritism Spiritist doctrine or principle is the relationship of the material world with spirits or beings of the invisible world. The adherents of Spiritism are Spiritists. As a specialty, "The Spirit’s Book “ contains the spiritist doctrine, as generally relates to the spiritualist doctrine, one of whose stage shows. That is why it brings in the header of his title the words: Philosophy spiritualist. (Introduction, section I, pg. 13.)

B. What is the concept of the word soul in the spiritist doctrine?

Kardec gives the name of soul to be immaterial and individual that resides in us and survives the body. (Introduction, section II, fifth paragraph, pg. 14.)

C. Kardec conceptualized as a vital principle?

It is the principle of life and organic material, whatever the source whence it emanates, a principle common to all living beings, from plants to man. According to some, the vital principle would be a property of matter, an effect that is produced is finding the material in given circumstances. For others, and this is the most common idea, it resides in a special fluid, universally widespread and which absorbs and assimilates each be a portion in life, such as inert bodies absorb light. That would be special fluid called the vital fluid which in the opinion of many, no different from the electric fluid animalistic, which also give the names of magnetic fluid, so fluid nervous. (Introduction, section II, the seventh paragraph, pg. 15.)

D. As we gave the first spiritual manifestations?

The first manifestations are produced by intelligent tables that were raised and, with one foot, gave a certain number of strokes, thereby answering - yes or no - as had been agreed, to a question. Until there was nothing convincing to skeptics, because they could well believe that everything was a fluke. Responses were obtained after further developed with the aid of letters, giving the mobile a number of strokes corresponding to the serial number of each letter, came to form words and sentences that answered the questions posed. The accuracy of responses and correlation with denoting the questions raised eyebrows. The mysterious being who thus replied, when questioned about his nature, said it was Spirit or Genius, declined to name, and provided a variety of information about you. A very important circumstance it is noted here, is that no one imagined the spirits as a means of explaining the phenomenon, it was the very phenomenon that revealed the word. Often, when dealing with the hard sciences, hypotheses are formulated to give yourself a basis for reasoning. It was not the case here. (N.R: Actually, before the phenomenon of turning tables occurred in the village of Hydesville, United States of America, called raps, something that the reader can see in two texts published in this magazine, the first edition in paragraph 2 - http://www.oconsolador.com.br/2/esde.html - and second in issue No 49 - http://www.oconsolador.com.br/49/especial2.html.)

As the initial match was slow and cumbersome, the Spirits have indicated other. It was one of those invisible beings who advised the adaptation of a pencil to a basket or other object. Placed upon a sheet of paper, the basket was set in motion by the same occult power that moved the tables, but instead of a simple regular movement, the pencil traced itself characters forming words, phrases, dissertations of many pages on the highest questions of philosophy, morality, metaphysics, psychology etc. How much and so quickly if writing by hand. The advice was given simultaneously in America, France and several other countries. It was thus the spiritual manifestations that have become popular worldwide. (Introduction, section IV, the second to sixth paragraphs, pg. 20.)
