Text for reading

46. Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus bury Jesus' body - Feeling that came to an end, Jesus cried, "I thirst." The soldiers then filled a sponge with vinegar and put it on a hyssop, reached the mouth. When Jesus had received the vinegar, said: "It is finished" and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit. As on Saturday, Easter day, the bodies should not remain on the cross, the soldiers saw that Jesus was dead, did not break his legs (which was done to the other two), but pierced the side of your body with a boom, where water and blood came out immediately, thus fulfilling the scripture that says: None of his bones will be broken. Then, Joseph of Arimathea (who was a disciple of Jesus hidden) besought Pilate that he might take away the body of the Master, and authorized, it was and took it. Then with the help of Nicodemus, Joseph of Arimathea took the Master's body and wrapped it in linen cloths with the spices brought by Nicodemus (almost one hundred pounds of a mixture of myrrh and aloes), leading him to a new tomb in existing garden nearby. (John 19:28 to 19:42.)

47. Jesus appears on the same day the disciples - After appearing to Mary Magdalene, the Master was presented on the afternoon of that day, the first of the week, to his disciples. As the doors were shut, Jesus came and stood among them, telling them: "Peace be unto you." That said, he showed them his hands and his side, claiming: "Peace be unto you as the Father sent me, so I am sending you." Then he breathed on them and told them: "Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins are forgiven them, and those whose sins you retain they are retained. " Thomas was not present when this actually occurred. Eight days later, they were all together again, including Thomas, when Jesus, the doors being shut, stood in the middle, saying, "Peace be unto you." Then he said to Thomas, "Put your finger here and see my hands, and reach here your hand and put it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing." The disciple could not resist the evidence of the appearance and therefore believed. Jesus said to him: "Because you have seen me, Thomas, thou hast believed: blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed." In the days that followed Jesus has achieved even in the presence of his disciples are many other signs, which are not written in this Gospel. (John 20:18 to 20:31.)

48. Jesus asks Peter to grazing their sheep - The appearance of Jesus at the Sea of Tiberias was the third since he was seen by Mary after the resurrection. After they had dined, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?" He replied: "Yes, Lord, thou knowest that I love." Jesus then asked him: "Feed my lambs." The Master turned to ask him, "Simon, son of John, do you love me?" Peter told him yes and he asked him: "Feed my sheep." The Lord has made, then, to ask, "Simon son of John, do you love me?" Simon Peter was hurt because Jesus asked you to have a third time if he loved him, but replied in the affirmative: "Lord you know everything thou knowest that I love you. " Jesus heard it, then repeated the request made earlier: "Feed my sheep", adding: "Actually, I tell you the truth, that when you were younger, you girded yourself and walked where you liked, but when you are old you will stretch out your hands and another shall gird thee and carry thee whither thou wouldest not. " And he said it - said the evangelist - to show you by what death he should glorify God. (John 21:14 to 21:19.)

49. The Master symbolically alludes to the martyrdom of Peter - Following a curious dialogue, Jesus said to Simon: "Follow me." Peter turned then and saw that it also followed the disciple whom Jesus loved and who leaned at supper on his breast. It was John the Evangelist, who was the youngest of all the disciples. Seeing him, Peter asked Jesus: "Lord, what about this man?" The Master told him: "If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? Follow thou me. " It has been disclosed, with it, among siblings, it said that John would not die. But Jesus did not say he would not die. (NR: In the note in his edition of the New Testament, Basil Blackwell reports which are written here are two traditions about the fate of the two apostles, Peter, who died a martyr in Rome, and John, who still lives on even relatively advanced age. ) (John 21:19 to 21:23.)

50. John states that Jesus did many things that the Gospel does not count - John Evangelist concludes the Gospel that bears his name, saying, "This is the disciple who testifies to all that and wrote these things. We know that his testimony is true. But there are many things that Jesus did. If they were all written every one, I believe that the world itself could not contain the books that would be written. " (John 21:24 and 21:25.)

Answers to questions

1. What friendly people were at the cross of Jesus and that he told his mother?

Near the cross were his mother, the sister of his mother, Mary of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene. Now, seeing his mother and the disciple whom he loved, Jesus said to his mother: Woman, behold your son. Then he said to the disciple, Behold thy mother. And from that hour the disciple - John himself, the author of this gospel - took her to his house. (John 19:25 to 19:27.)

2. Simon Peter and John entered the empty tomb, but it was another person who first saw Jesus. Who is she and how it happened?

The person who first saw Jesus was Mary Magdalene, who was crying out at the tomb when he saw two angels in white, seated where the body of Jesus, and another one at the head to toe. They said to him: "Woman, why are you weeping? She said: They have taken away my Lord, and do not know where they laid him. Having said this, he turned back and saw Jesus standing, but did not know it was Jesus. He asked her, Woman, why are you weeping? Who searches? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Lord, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I'll take you. Jesus said to her: Mary! She turned and said to him: Raboni (that is to say, Master). Maria understood that it was then that she saw the Master. Then he said to me not because they have not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren and say to them, I ascend unto my Father and your Father, my God and your God. (John 20:1 to 20:17.)

3. After appearing to Mary Magdalene, where and when Jesus appeared to his apostles? And what the Apostle was not present?

The incident occurred on the afternoon of that day, the first of the week. The doors were shut where the disciples were for fear of the Jews were gathered together, Jesus came and stood in the middle, saying unto them, Peace be unto you. The missing apostle was Thomas, called Didymus. (John 20:18 to 20:29.)

4. How was the appearance of Jesus at the Sea of Tiberias?

There were together Simon Peter, Thomas called Didymus, Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two of his disciples. Simon Peter said to them: I am going fishing. They decided to go with him and soon rose to the boat. The other day, morning, Jesus stood on the shore, but the disciples did not recognize him. He asked them: Children, have ye any meat? They said: No. He said to them, Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and no longer could take, given the large amount of fish. Then John said to Peter, is the Lord. This was the third time that Jesus was manifested to his disciples after he rose from the dead. (John 21:1 to 21:14.)

5. Ran between the followers of Jesus the news that John the Apostle, would not die. It is true that version?

Concerning John the beloved disciple of Jesus, reported among the brothers that idea, namely that that disciple would not die. But Jesus did not say he would not die, but: If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? (John 21:20 to 21:24.)
