The Gospel according to Luke

We continue this issue to the Systematic Study of the New Testament, which includes the study of the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John and the book of Acts. 45. Everyone who exalts himself will be humbled - After the parable of the judge and the widow, Jesus told this parable: "Two men went to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee, and the other a publican. The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself: O God, I thank thee, I am not as other men are, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. I fast twice a week, I give tithes of all that I possess. The collector, however, standing, by far, would not lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner! I tell you this man went down to his house justified rather than the other, because everyone that exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted. " At that time, brought him some boys that he might touch them, and the disciples rebuked them. Then Jesus called the children to join them, said: "Let the children come to me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. Verily I say unto you that whosoever will not receive the kingdom of God like a child will never enter it. " (Luke 18:2 to 18:17.) 

46. It is very difficult for the rich to enter the kingdom of God - Seeing that the prince had become rich very sad about the idea of sharing their goods with the poor, Jesus said: "How hardly enter the kingdom of God those who have wealth! Because it is easier for a camel through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God. " Those who heard him were astonished and asked, "Who then can be saved?" The Master took the course to teach things that are impossible with men are possible with God and, responding to a remark of Peter, that you remember having left everything to follow him, said: "Verily I say to you, who has left house or parents or brothers or wife or children, for the kingdom of God, who does not receive manifold more in this world, and the age to come eternal life. " That said, he gathered the twelve apostles and told them: "Behold we go up to Jerusalem, and be fulfilled in the Son of man all that was written by the prophets, for they shall be delivered unto the Gentiles, and mocked, and spit upon, and , having beaten him, kill him: and the third day rise again. " (Luke 18:23 to 18:33.) 

47. Jesus heals the blind man of Jericho - The apostles did not understand what Jesus meant by the news of his death and resurrection, and things went their way normal. It just so happened that when Jesus arrived near Jericho, was there a blind man sat by the wayside, begging. Listening through the crowd, the blind man asked what it meant. They told him that Jesus of Nazareth passeth by. The blind man then cried out, saying: "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me." People who followed the Master scolded him to be quiet, but he cried even louder, "Son of David, have mercy on me!" Then Jesus stopped walking and he had it brought to him, asking him: "What do you do that?" The blind man replied, "Sir, I see." Jesus said to him: "Behold thy faith hath made thee whole." And soon the blind saw, and followed him, glorifying God, and all the people who had seen the scene, gave praise to God. (Luke 18:34 to 18:43.) 

48. The Master prophesies the destruction of Jerusalem - The entry of Jesus into Jerusalem was triumphant, but when he saw the city and wept over it, saying, "Ah! If you knew well, at least in this thy day, which belong unto thy peace! But now they are hid from thine eyes. For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench, and sitiarão you, and you in on all bands, and you shall break down, thou and thy children within thee, and not leave one stone unturned, because they did not know the time of your visitation. " Soon after, entering the temple, began to expel all those who sold and bought, saying: "It is written, My house is a house of prayer: but ye have made it a den of robbers." In the days that followed, Jesus taught in the temple daily, while the chief priests and scribes, with the princes of the people sought to kill him, finding no way to do it, because all the people hung him, listening it. (Luke 19:41 to 19:48.) 

49. John's baptism was from heaven or from men? - In those days, as he taught the people in the temple and preaching the gospel, came the chief priests, scribes and elders and asked, "Tell us by what authority do these things? Or who is he that gave thee this authority? "Answering them, the Lord said:" Also I will make you a question. Tell me: John's baptism was from heaven or from men? "The question caught them by surprise and, therefore, they reasoned, saying," If we say, From heaven, he will say: Then why not believed? And if we say, Of men, all the people will stone us, for they be persuaded that John was a prophet. " Thus, they decided to tell Jesus that they did not know where he was the baptism of John Jesus said to them, "Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things." (Luke 20:1 to 20:8.) 

Answers to questions 

1. A certain ruler asked Jesus what should I do to inherit eternal life. What was the response of the Master?  

The prince's question was this: "Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?" Jesus replied: "Why call me good? There is none good but one, which is God. You know the commandments: Do not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother. " The man told him that all these things had been watching him since his youth. Jesus, then, after listening to him, told him: "You still lack one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me." The prince, hearing this, was very sad because it was too rich. (Luke 18:18 to 18:23.)

2. What was the name the rich publican of Jericho that Jesus stayed in your house? 

His name was Zacchaeus and there was chief tax collector. Touched by the attention that Jesus gave him, Zacchaeus said to him, in public, "Lord, behold, I give to the poor half of my possessions, and if in anything I have defrauded anyone, I restore fourfold." (Luke 19:1 to 19:10.)

3. What is the content and meaning of the parable of the pounds

A certain nobleman went into a far country, to take for himself a kingdom and to return. Called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come. But his citizens hated him, and sent after him, saying, 'We do not want this man to reign over us. It happened that he came, after having received the kingdom, said him called those servants, whom she had given money to know what each had gained by trading. Then came the first, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained ten pounds. And he said unto him, Well done, thou good because at least you were faithful, thou authority over ten cities. And the second came, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained five pounds. And it also said: Be thou also over five cities. And another came, saying, Lord, here is thy pound, which I kept a handkerchief, because I fear thee, that thou art an austere man, what hast thou that hast not, and reapest you did not sow. You, however, said: wicked servant, I will judge you by your mouth. Did you know that I am an austere man, I take what is not pus, and reaping what I sowed not. Why not lay down, because my money in the bank, that coming I demanded it with interest? He said those who were with him: Take from him the pound, and give it to him that hath ten pounds. I tell you that whosoever shall be given you will, but that does not have, even what he has will be taken.

This parable, which is much like the parable of the talents means that we hold all resources - money, power, position - consistent with the job we came to play on this planet and we should be accountable severe. It also shows that the complexity of the tasks that are assigned in a given time depends on how we execute the above. Individuals who lose precious opportunities, despite the resources at their disposal, may come an occasion deprived of these resources, as occurred in the suggestive history, with the evil servant. (Luke 19:11 to 19:27.) 

4. What words were spoken by the disciples when Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a colt?  

As Jesus entered Jerusalem, the multitude spread their garments on the road, and when he approached the descent of the Mount of Olives, his disciples, rejoicing, began to praise God with a loud voice for all the wonderful they had seen, saying: "Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven and glory in heaven." (Luke 19:30 to 19:38.) 

5. Seeing that the Pharisees did not like what the disciples were speaking, Jesus said to them?  

As seen, the phrase spoken by the disciples was this: "Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven and glory in heaven." The Pharisees did not like and asked Jesus, "Teacher, rebuke your disciples." The response of Jesus over the centuries, has become classic: "I tell you that if these were silent, the stones will cry out." (Luke 19:38 to 19:40.)
