Lucky, the dog

Once upon a time, a little girl called Denise had a dog called Lucky. She loves to go for walks everyday. Her dog Lucky is always going with her, but there is something you need to know about Denise: she doesn’t know how to respect others.

When the little dog comes closer and barks at her because the animal is really happy to see her, Denise pushes him away.

Sometimes she sat down feeling quite sad and lonely. Lucky would then come by licking her hand with kindness. Denise would then kick him with anger.

Her mom was always trying to give her good advice, teaching her that all animals were created by God. We should love and respect one another. She would also say we should not do to others what we would not like done to us, as Jesus

taught. Denise never listened to her mom; she would then say:

– I do what I want! No one tells me what to do!

Lucky didn’t seem to bother with her bad attitude. He would always come closer to her, demonstrating his loyalty.

One day Denise walked away from home. She realised, after a few moments, she was close to a highway. She looked around and saw a toy store which was located on the other side of the road. There were some beautiful toys displayed there.

Denise didn’t think twice. She crossed the street without looking around. She suddenly felt her dog jumping over her. She then felt into the pavement.

The little girl turned around as she wanted to shout at Lucky. She then saw her dog standing at the pavement, as if he was dead. She then realised what happened. There was a car driving close by, really fast. Lucky sensed danger and tried to save her life, risking your own.

The car driver stopped near by, feeling quite disturbed. He wasn’t expecting someone to jump in front of his car and felt quite distressed about it. Other people stopped to see what just happened.

– Are you hurt? – the driver asked, quite worried.

– No. I am fine. – Denise answered quietly.

He then looked at Lucky and said:

– You own your life to this brave little dog.

– Lucky! Lucky! – Denise cried, quite desperately.

The driver felt so moved with the girl’s attitude. He decided to come closer to the dog and examine him.

– He is not dead. Thanks God! He was hit by the

car, but it’s nothing serious. Let’s take him to the vet.

Denise carried him with kindness. As soon as she held him, Lucky opened his eyes. It then licked her hand, with a kind gesture.

Denise then said:

– Forgive me, Lucky, please! I will never hit you again. I promise I will be a good girl from now onwards.

The little dog barked, full of happiness. He knew deep down his life would be different from now onwards.
