Text for reading

77. Between Jesus and Barabbas, the crowd chooses the second - It was the custom at the Passover the president release a prisoner, except that the people choose who they wanted. At that time there was an inmate of all well known, called Barabbas. Pilate then asked the crowd: "What will ye that I release unto you? Barabbas, or Jesus called Christ? "Pilate decided to do so, they knew it was out of envy that the priests and the elders were imprisoned. Meanwhile, since Pilate sat in the courtroom, his wife sent him to say: "Do not go with this just man, because a dream too suffered because of it." Meanwhile, the chief priests and elders persuaded the crowd to ask for Barabbas and destroy Jesus. Everyone then said (in answer to the question of Pilate), Barabbas. Pilate asked them, "What shall I do then with Jesus called Christ?" They said: "Crucify him." Pilate still argued, asking: "What evil has he done?" And they cried more, asking: "Crucify him." Pilate, seeing that the tumult grew only washed his hands before the multitude, saying: "I am innocent of this righteous blood. Consider this. " But to no avail, because answering it, the people said, "His blood be on us and on our children." Barabbas was released then, and Jesus, after being beaten on the orders of Pilate, was handed over to be crucified. (Matthew 27:15 to 27:26.)

78. Jesus is crucified -  Conducted the hearing, Jesus was naked and covered with a scarlet cape, and you put a crown of thorns on his right hand and a cane. They then knelt before him and mocked him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews. Then, spitting on him, beat with his own cane on his head. Later, after they had mocked him, they stripped him of the cloak, dressed him in his clothes and took him to be crucified. When they went out and found a Cyrene, named Simon, whom he compelled to carry his cross. Arriving at the place called Golgotha, which is said Place of the Skull, they gave him wine mixed with gall, but he would not drink it. After the crucifixion, and parted his garments, casting lots, that might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet: They divided my garments among themselves, and upon my vesture they cast lots. And, on top of his head they placed the written charge against him: This is Jesus, King of the Jews. (Matthew 27:27 to 27:37.)

79. The Lord's agony on the cross - Crucified with Jesus were also two robbers, one on his right, another left. Were there, watching from afar, many women who had followed Jesus from Galilee, among them, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Joses, and the mother of Zebedee's children. Those who passed by blasphemed, wagging their heads and saying, "You who destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, save thyself. If you are the Son of God, descend from the cross. " Likewise proceeded priests, scribes, elders and Pharisees, saying wryly: "He saved others and himself can not save himself. He is the King of Israel descend now from the cross, and we will believe him. He trusted in God free him now, if she loves him, because he said I am the Son of God. " And so he threw in his face next to the robbers. About the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying Eli, Eli, lamá sabachthani, this is my God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? (NR: In the Catholic version, the phrase is: Eli, Eli, sabacthani second Loyola Editions , or Eli, Eli, lamma sabachthani, according to publishing books of Brazil. The brother and philologist Milton O 'Reilly says de Sousa, however, in an article published by the Journal of The Immortal March/87 that the correct translation of four words spelled in Hebrew is: My God, my God, how thou dost glorify me!, quite different from the issues contained in the Brazilian mentioned and more consistent with the exceptional nature of the mission of Jesus, the Spirit pure and spiritual governor appointed by the Creator of the Earth.) (Matthew 27:38 to 27:46.)

80. Strange phenomena happen and people are scared - Some who were there thought he was calling for Elijah and one of them ran, and took a sponge, soaked it in vinegar, put it on a reed, gave him a drink, while others said, "Wait to see if Elijah comes to save him. " But Jesus, calling again with a loud voice, gave up his spirit. The earth then trembled, the rocks were split, the veil of the temple was torn from top to bottom, and the graves were opened, and many bodies of the resurrected saints who slept there. The centurion and those with him watching Jesus, saw the earthquake and the things that were done, they were afraid, and finally realizing the truth, saying, "Truly this was the Son of God." (Matthew 27:47 to 27:56.)

81. The tomb is sealed and guarded by the Pharisees - Once the body of Jesus was taken and buried, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary sat before the tomb. Next day, gathered the chief priests and the Pharisees came to Pilate, saying, "Lord, we remember that that deceiver, still living, said after three days rise again. Orders since the sepulcher be made secure until the third day, do not give the case that his disciples come by night, and stealing, and tell the people: He is risen from the dead, and so the last error shall be worse than the first ". Pilate answered, "Ye have a watch: go, keep it as you can". They then were held to guard the tomb and sealed the stone entrance. (Matthew 27:59 to 27:66.)

82. Jesus found his disciples in Galilee - Jesus had risen and appeared to Mary Magdalene and another Mary, when some of the guard coming to town, reported to the chief priests of the things that had happened. The priests met with the elders and taken counsel, they gave much money to soldiers, instructing them in the following way: "Say: They came at night and his disciples, while we slept and stole him away. And if this comes to be heard by the president, we will persuade him, and I'll put in security. " The soldiers took the money and did as was determined and this version was circulated among the Jews. The eleven disciples, however, departed for the Galilee to the mountain where Jesus had appointed them, and when saw him, they worshiped him, but some doubted. Jesus then told them: "It's given me all power in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and lo, I am with you always, until the end of time. Amen ". (Matthew 28:11 to 28:20.)
