20. The authority of Jesus - As soon as Jesus concluded the sermon, the crowd that heard him was amazed at his teaching, as Jesus taught them as having authority, and not as the scribes. (NR: Scribe: The beginning was the name given to the secretaries of the kings of Judah and certain heads of the Jewish armies. Later it was applied especially to doctors who taught the law of Moses and interpreted for the people. They were allies of the Pharisees of the principles shared. That is why Jesus involved in the failure which threw the Pharisees.) (Matthew 7:28 and 7:29.)

21. The healing of the leper - After coming down the mountain, Jesus was followed by a large crowd. Came to him a leper and worshiped him, saying, "Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean." Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, "I thou clean." The Lord has recommended, then the ex-leper, now cleansed of leprosy, "Look, do not tell anyone, but go, shew thyself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them." (Matthew 8:1 to 8:4.)

22. Jesus heals a paralytic distance - The faith shown by a centurion who asked him for help in case of his servant who had been paralyzed, touched Jesus, who, hearing the words of the Roman officer, told them that followed, "Assuredly, I say that even in Israel have I found such faith . "But I tell you that many will come from east and west and sit at the table will be with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven: and the sons of the kingdom shall be cast into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. "Healing the centurion's servant was done away, as you suggested an official of Rome. (Matthew 8:8 to 8:13.)

23. "The Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head" - Evening, brought to Jesus many who were demon, and he by his word cast out the spirits, healing all who were sick, it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah: "He took up our infirmities and carried our diseases. " Then came to him a scribe, who told him: "Master, whither thou goest, I will follow. Jesus replied, "Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head." The message given to the scribe about the nature of his mission could not be clearer. (Matthew, 8:16 to 8:20.)

24. Jesus calms the storm - They were Jesus and his disciples in a boat when it raised a storm so great that the boat was covered by the waves. Jesus slept. The disciples, fearful for what happened, and awoke him, saying, "Lord, save us! we perish. " Jesus asked them, "Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith?" And he arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, followed by a great calm. His disciples then wondered, exclaiming: "What man is this, that even the winds and sea obey him?" (Matthew, 8:23 to 8:27.)

25. The Lord has authority to forgive sins - Leaving the country of the province, Jesus went to the other side, which brought him a paralytic lying on a bed. Seeing their faith, the Lord said to the paralytic, "Son, be of good cheer, you are forgiven your sins." Some of the scribes present protested, saying that Jesus railed. But he, knowing their thoughts, said, "Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts? For what is easier? say you are forgiven your sins, or say, Arise and walk? "He added:" But that ye may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins (then said to the paralytic), Arise , take up thy bed, and go home. " (Matthew 9:1 to 9:8.)

26. No one puts new patch on old cloth - Jesus and his disciples at the table, when many publicans and sinners, and sat down beside her. The Pharisees were indignant: "Why eateth your Master with publicans and sinners?" Jesus replied, "No need to doctor the sound, but to patients. But go and learn what that means: I desire mercy, not sacrifice. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. " At that time, came to him the disciples of John the Baptist, asking, "Why do we and the Pharisees often, but thy disciples fast not?" The Lord answered them, saying: "Can bridechamber the sons of the bride , while the bridegroom is with them? But the days will come, when they will be taken from the husband, and then fast. No man patch of new cloth on an old garment, for by pulling breaks the dress, and makes a worse hole. Neither do men put new wine into old bottles: otherwise break up the bottles and poured the wine, and the bottles perish: but they put new wine into new bottles, and thus be preserved. " (Matthew, 9:10 to 9:17.)

Answers to questions

1. Once down the mountain, Jesus healed three individuals: a leper, the servant of a centurion who had been paralyzed and mother of Peter, who was burning with fever. As Jesus healed them?

The leper - who had told him: "Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean" - Jesus stretched out his hand, touched him, saying: "I want to be thou clean." At the same moment he was clean his leprosy. The centurion's servant was healed at a distance. About the case, Jesus said, first, to hear the request of the military, that even in Israel had found such faith. Then he said to the centurion, "Go, and as thou hast believed, so will be done." At the same time healed the servant. Regarding the mother of Peter, who was in bed and burned with fever, he touched her hand and the fever left. (Matthew 8:2 to 8:15.)

2. What answer gave Jesus the disciple who asked permission to bury his father?

The Teacher's response was short and direct: "Follow me, and let the dead bury their dead." (Matthew 8:22).

3. That fact led Gadarenes to ask him to leave their land?

That was due to the healing of two devils that came out of the tombs, came to meet him and shouted: "What we do with thee, Son of God? come here to torment us before the time? "Nearby, grazing a herd of pigs. The demons begged him: "If us out, send us into the herd of pigs." Jesus said to them: "Go." After they left, went to the pigs. The whole herd rushed down the slope into the sea and then the pigs drowned. The shepherds fled and went into the city, where they told what had happened. Then the whole town came out to meet Jesus and to see him, the people begged him to leave their land. (Matthew, 8:28 to 8:34.)

4. In healing a paralyzed man who was lying in bed, Jesus said to him: Son, be of good cheer, you are forgiven your sins. What teaching contains this episode?

In addition to the quoted phrase, Jesus said to the former paralytic, "Arise, take your mat and go home." Some scribes said within themselves: "This man blasphemes." But Jesus, knowing their thoughts said, "Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts? Because it is easier to say: forgiveness for your sins, or to say, Arise, and walk? "Then the Lord explained to them clearly that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins. (Matthew 9:1 to 9:8.)

5. What was the fifth apostle called by Jesus to follow him?

The fifth apostle, who worked at the receipt of the city, was named Matthew. Jesus said, "Follow me." He got up and followed him. (Matthew 9:9.)
