Moral crisis, a problem of difficult solution

In addition to all the cases of corruption that have been covered by the news of the Brazilian press, since the frauds against the Social Security to the recent episode of the “monthly bribe payment” in the Federal District of Brazil, we could see reports regarding problems related to the ENEM (National Exam of Secondary Education) and several other categories of public exams required to become a Public Servant.

We can see the unscrupulous attitudes and frauds are neither restricted to a certain region of the country nor to a specific social class. In order to be successful in life – an expression that materialists like to use – all means should be tried and even youngsters ended up being caught in the cases mentioned above.

What can be concluded from this is that the moral crisis constitutes a problem that extrapolates even the Brazilian borders, regardless if it’s a First World or a Third World country, because the human being is always the same, whatever it’s here or in Europe, causing no surprise to Spiritists, since we know that the physiognomic characteristics, the full bag or the color of the skin has nothing to do with the evolutive condition of the reincarnated Spirit.

Given that Earth is a planet of trials and expiations, it’s natural that it receives morally indebted and complicated individuals. Our mistakes and vacillations from the past have been innumerous, making possible to find dishonest and venal individuals under a fake Christian cover beside honest and sincere people.

Yet, the time for change has arrived. It’s not acceptable that, in full Third Millennium, two thousand years after the advent of the Christ, people make use of methods that should have already been extirpated from our society even to be admitted to a university.

But we shouldn’t have illusions regarding such subject, because, differently from the economic crisis, the moral crisis, which is being hard and lasting, requires time and good will, once it’s related to our own concept of life. If this concept has a materialist basis, it’s natural that all this still happens as means to obtain social advantages, and that’s possibly the real reason for the crisis we’re facing.

However, those ones that define themselves as being Christians should have a different behavior.

What’s the point of winning the world and losing oneself? – as said Jesus more than two thousand years ago, showing us that the Christian ethics can’t be compatible with fraud, corruption, disorder, easy wealth and bad administration of public resources.

Religions are supposed to open the eyes of the ones that take advantage of situations, showing them that they’re mistaken and their success will be short, vain and deceptive, as opposed to what they believe.

Certainly, this won’t suffice to change the current state of things, which has been lasting and accumulating. But it’s a good start point, where Spiritists must be present keeping themselves confident about the moralizing power of the Consoler promised by Jesus and the clarity of his message.
