New Year’s Eve

And one more year is gone!

Was it a happy one? Obviously not, because if some few people could rejoice themselves in the end of 2009, we can’t ignore that the great majority of people, here and abroad, still waits for the advent of effective happy days, in which peace may reign in the hearts and conscience is no longer disturbed by the lack of tranquility.

Religion may bring us days like these, because true happiness isn’t related to earthly pleasures whatsoever.

May nobody forget that one is born naked and like this returns to spiritual plan. The idea of putting jewelry, gold and other relics within the tomb, which cherished Pharaohs’ dreams, is nothing but a vain initiative, since those belongings have an enormous value in the world we live in today but no use for the other plan.

A millionaire person, who we see as being extremely happy because of his or her belongings, would certainly exchange all of the fortune or part of it for a son’s life that has been taken away by death. This paternal love, the fraternal friendship we cultivate along the existence, the inner peace that the dear relatives inspire in us are things that can’t be measured in monetary terms, ultimately showing that only legitimate human aspirations can lead creature towards Creator, the final objective of religion.

In spite of that, we live the age of unlimited materialism on Earth. We don’t refer solely to ideological materialism, but to the operative materialism, which we find in the life of the so-called religious people.

Selfishness is, undoubtedly, the root of such materialism, which is responsible for various distortions that maculate the civilization of our time and generates this worldwide fever of accumulating goods.

The materialistic behavior is also, in fact, a certificate of lack of faith and a demonstration of collapse of religions that haven’t been able to instill a ray of light within the human cogitations to guide them in their earthly journey, except once a week, thank to religious cults.

“We live, we live, we – the deads – live...” – that’s the message from Spirits of those who have already departed to the beyond.

What sense will this message make to us?

Without any hesitation of philosophical order, it has at least one sense: death doesn’t exist, earthly existence is a facet of a Spirit’s life, soul is immortal and what is important to us is to develop it as much as we can, given that it is what survives in the end of this process.

Thinking this way, we hope that this year that has just started may make us better understand the appeals of religion we profess and may it be the beginning of a peaceful life and renovation of our habits.
