The rebellious horse

Once upon a time, a horse lived in a beautiful farm where he was cheered by everyone. It was born there, in the middle of the bushes. All other animals loved it as if it was their adopted son.

He was born healthy and strong. He was named Jock. It was beautiful to see it running in the fields and playing with other animals. Therefore, Jock had everyone’s attention all the time and   became   proud   of   itself   and

convinced it was better than other animals. He only wanted the best, and believed he had the right to have everyone’s attention.

His owner thought he should become a runner due to its strength and youth. Jock was really quick and no doubt was the fastest horse in the region.

Jock heard his owner and decided he didn’t want to run. He was too superior to this task, he thought.

– Oh, no! – he said – Me? Getting tired to get everyone else’s entertained? No way! I am not going.

His owner felt disappointed with Jock. He then thought the horse might have not got the strength to run. He would then leave Jock with his wife. She loved to ride and would be happy with this gift.

Jock refused. When the woman jumped on him, he decided not to move. She then came down from the horse and never wanted to ride it again.

The owner tried to find an excuse for Jock’s attitudes, and thought:

– What if my wife is too heavy for Jock? Maybe if my son rides him, it will be different!

Nothing happened, unfortunately! The boy jumped on his back, due to his father’s request. He soon had to go down since Jock started to react with backward kicks.

The owner tried everything to get Jock to work on a specific task. He tried to get him to pull a light two-wheeled cart, but wasn’t able to.

Time went by. Jock didn’t want to work. The horse only wanted to run in the fields, eat good food and drink fresh water. The owner lost his patient with Jock and decided to sell it.

A while later, he was able to find Jock, the beautiful horse.  He saw the horse who had everything at his house, irrecognisable. It looked dirty and mistreated. The horse looked humiliated, with his head down. It was also pulling a big heavy two-wheeled cart...

Jock was given may ooportunities, but he wasn’t able to enjoy them. Now, he would need to learn the value  of  work

under difficult circumstances, in order to learn the blessings God provides us with.
