 A misbehaved girl

Anne was a very misbehaved child. She used to sit down on the ground and cry for no reason, kick, scream and feel irritated.

She would damage all books and magazines she found around her, break all expensive toys she got as a present from her parents and fight the few friends she had.

As a result, Anne ended up alone. She became such an unbearable child to around that no one would want to play with her.

Her parents gently and with patience used to tell her with kindness:

— Don’t do it, Anne!

— Don’t break your doll, she is so pretty!

— Don’t damage your book; it has such as interesting story!

— Don’t hit your friends, please!

She would never take their advice. After a while, Anne would start to cry loud for new toys, books and magazines and not stop until she had them. Her kind mother was feeling discourage for not knowing how to act.

Anne was her only daughter and she treated her with a lot of love, taking care of all her demands. Now she wanted to hold back but wasn’t able to. Desperately, she prayed to God for help; to guide her and show her how to act; which attitudes to change. She didn’t know what to do as no matter what advice she followed Anne wasn’t changing her behaviour.

One day, Anne was being extremely misbehaved. Her mother prayed in tears supplicating the help of our Celestial Father. On the same night, Anne went to sleep and had a dream…

She dreamed she was at her own house. Anne saw her body asleep, but she didn’t know what was going on. She felt much lighter and in the beginning she found it quite funny and enjoyed the situation. Suddenly, some strange looking creatures wanted to fight with her for being so bad, selfish and despotic.
Anne had a close look at them, and recognised all

the characters from the books and magazines she had destroyed. They were angry because they didn’t have a place now to go to; they lost their homes. Anne was scared, trying to defend herself, crying for help, but no one came to help her.

She tried to run away from her room through the front door, but then she saw her toys coming towards her. They were all damaged and missing a few pieces. The doll had a broken leg and the puppy had no ears!

Frightened, she saw her friends looking at the scene through the window. She cried for help, but they just laughed at her. She called for her parents, but they didn’t seem to listen to her. After shouting for a long time, she remembered her mom thought her how to pray…

She than begged, with tears in her eyes:

— Jesus, please help! I never realised how many bad things I was doing. I want to be a better child!

On that moment she fall into a deep hole and woke up in her bed. Her mother, who was very worried and standing by her side, asked:

— What happened, my dear? You seem to have had a very agitated dream!

Anne hugged her mother and said in tears:

— Oh! Mummy, if you just knew! I had a terrible nightmare, but it thought me a lesson. I promise to be a better person from this day onwards.

And from that day, for everyone’s surprise, Anne started to be a very docile, obedient, good behaved child. She started to look after her books, magazines and toys with love, and never fought with her friends nor disrespected any person.
