Christina Nunes:

“The lack of love is the reason to human suffering”

The carioca medium talks about her books and analyzes many
topics of interest, such as abortion and violence

Born in Rio de Janeiro to Spiritist parents, Christina Nunes has a degree on Portuguese and Literature and professionally works at TRF in her hometown. In the Spiritist scene she works as a psychographer, writing many Spiritist books, all of them inspired by her spiritual mentor Caio Fabio Quinto. Christina is also a correspondent in Rio de Janeiro of the magazine O Consolador. About to have another book published, “Between Jesus and the Sword”, she delivered the following interview:

O Consolador: Have you always lived

in Rio de Janeiro?

I was born in Rio, at the Meier end. I lived there for 20 years, and then my family moved to Tijuca. I’ve been living here for so long that I feel I always lived here. It’s a nice neighborhood for me, with trees, in fact, the largest urban Forest in the world!

O Consolador: When and how did you have your first contact with Spiritism?

All my family is Spiritist. As I said, my late grandpa, one of those who initiated me into the Doctrine, during his youth he spent a long time in a Catholic boarding school and, curiously, he left there Spiritist, a scholar in the topic! When he disincarnated, I inherited his library, and he also gave me my first book, as I was 16, the beautiful novel dictated by the Spirit Emmanuel through the psychography of our Chico Xavier, “Two Thousand Years Ago”, and its sequel, “Fifty Years Later”. However, having a Spiritist mother, I had already had contact with the Spiritist literature through its books, like “Our Home”, also psychographed by Chico and dictated by André Luiz.

O Consolador: What other activities do you have in the Spiritist movement?

I have never had, actually. My life is particularly busy. As my husband works in São Paulo all week long, my domestic journey, most of the time, is like father and mother, besides my Professional journey and the Spiritist literary production in various sites, and also the partnership with the publisher Lumen for our psychographed books.

O Consolador: You have a degree in Literature. When did this interest first start?

Early. When I was taking Elementary School I learned how to read easily. At 8 I would write comic books that I created myself and my friends liked to read and listen. It is an inborn pleasure, reading and writing, I can say it’s a healthy addiction! I’ve always written, and the teachers liked it.

O Consolador: How did you find your mediumistic faculties?

At first it was a bit hard, in an uncontrolled fashion, because there would be incorporations of troubled brothers, and even deceased relatives. My mentor, around this time, got to express himself through incorporation, but a few times. What he started doing as time went by was to guide my psychography, initially through short messages and scribbles, until we got to write longer messages and books, many years later. When the mediumistic faculty became more organized, I was still a teenager; I started attending Ramatis Spiritist Society assiduously. Thanks to this center I managed to control this gift. The incorporations practically ceased, leaving place to the works performed under the rules of my spiritual mentors. Once I received psychographed messages from my grandfather in which the handwriting was the same, as well as its content. There were other episodes, of course. The most interesting ones happened when this grandfather visited me, revealing things of my family that later were confirmed. There was also this episode of disengagement when I visited several places in Italy, which I could later realize, in awe, before pictures that I looked!

O Consolador: What criteria do you adopt as to receiving messaged? Are they psychographed at home or in meetings at the Spiritist Center?

I had to create, under the help of spiritual assistants, peculiar criteria that could meet the demands of the Spiritist literature. As I can’t attend regularly the sessions at the Spiritist Center due to other appointments I have at the Federal Justice (they only work weekdays during business hours), I developed at home a sort of refuge of mediumistic work, where regularly, on the proper days, and always at night time or early in the morning, I concentrate on the production of books, articles or messages in partnership with my disincarnated mentor, mainly, and sometimes with other spiritual friends. Besides it is important the constant preparation and maintenance of a good vibration pattern at home, so that we cancel out the influence of obsessors and other harmful spiritual influences, through prayer and reading of the Standard Works, especially The Gospel According to Spiritism.

O Consolador: In which way does your university degree help your psychography?

In the Spiritist literature there are mentions that the Spirits engaged with the production of messages on Earth prefer instruments that are prepared in this area, along with other indispensable requirements, to ease the task of transmitting messages and books of Spiritist content to our planet. As for psychography, either for Grammar or vocabulary, it is useful. In The Mediums’ Book, chap. XI 2nd Part, they point out the hassle of searching direct technical means of communication with the Spirits through the participation of mediums. I’ve already talked about that in articles about Instrumental Transcommunication which, to my point of view, is important, but will never surpass standard mediumship, which works safely against smart and skilful obsessors in an attempt to deceive the naïve ones with beautiful, but empty words. It is a nuance that the machine, even the most advanced one, does not possess, because it lacks the psychic and spiritual sensitiveness of the human being, to sort precisely the messages that are worth.

O Consolador: How many books have you written through psychography?

In fact, five of them are ready, all being done through the years, others in the making, all written by my mentor, Caio Fabio Quinto, which was the name he lived in Italy, as a general in the Roman army of Julius Cesar. He has lived countless times in this country, and his mission, through the literary point of view, is, in part, to rescue all these memories, transmitting to the readers in order to give useful teachings about karma and evolution, since some of his books tell more than one reincarnation of a same group of Spirits that have followed him over the millennia. There are three books published: “The Praetorian”, brought by Mundo Maior Editora, “Under the Power of the Eagle” and “Elysium, a Love Story between Soul mates”, these two brought by Lumen Editorial. The latter takes place in the Spiritual Colony over the Italian regions, and demystify the thing about soul mates, with all its misunderstandings, confirming that, in fact, what remains about the feelings is a matter of legitimacy, by the current laws of attraction via development stage and spiritual vibration – and not by incomplete halves that look for one another in eternity in the state of incompleteness.

O Consolador: You have produced a lot through psychography. Are there any new books out yet?
Any novels?

At the moment, in the publisher, to be released probably this semester, another mediumistic novel, in the same style: “Between Jesus and the Sword” talks about the everyday living of this same spiritual group, in the time of Nero. Of an intensive content, he talks of the beauty of Jesus’ teachings against the backdrop of the difficulties imposed by despotism of the Roman Imperial Government, the direct participation of the religious and military chains in the cruel persecutions to Christians and the divine lessons that were learned.

O Consolador: What are your favorite Spiritist books?

Besides all the Standard Works, the books by the Spirit André Luiz and Emmanuel, and Chico Xavier’s psychography. I particularly enjoy all the collection of Spiritist novels by the Spirit of Rochester, although there is some controversy about his books. Alternative books talking about spirituality, such as Osho, Victor Hugo, Leon Denis and Zilda Gama, Herculano Pires and Neale Donald Walsch. There is a wonderful Spiritist literary world if you are interested, and here I just said the ones I like more.

O Consolador: The exercise of mediumship is a work that requires constant discipline. Is this the greatest challenge faced by mediums?

Without a shadow of a doubt. And not only because of our modern life. I also talk about the energetic pattern on our planet, which can easily beat the unprepared medium dealing with the obsessors that are tireless in their efforts of harming our work on behalf of humanity. At Ramatis Spiritual Society, at the time when I attended with enthusiasm the lectures of the late President, Antonio Plínio, he used to refer to these obstacles as being “the thing”. He warned us over and over about this: setbacks that can harm – but never cease – our punctuality to the programmed agenda of spiritual treatment in the Center; attacks many times from our closest friends, relatives, in order to test our capacity to resist harmful spiritual states and vibration pattern to the elevation of our purposes; diseases, often trying to hinder our enthusiasm to persevere in the activities and treatments at the Spiritist Center. All of this is done by “the thing”. They are groups of unhappy brothers harming the progress of those who fight for advancement of the countless reincarnating Spirits in a slow process of development, through mistakes and persuasion.

O Consolador: Let’s talk about news. The Social Security and Family Commission has rejected, the Project of Law 1135/91, which legalizes abortion. You, as a Spiritist, what do you make of it?

I see it a victory to be celebrated. I always tried to contribute for this cause exchanging ideas and asking for reflection, whenever I wrote about it. Many people still don’t know about the implications involved in abortion, since many reject or ignore the reality of reincarnation. People don’t know the real magnitude of the entire work behind a rebirth on Earth. They either don’t know or reject it, the serious commitment spiritual wise among these Spirits and their parents, and these with the mentors, and many others souls that are waiting; with karmic projectors and a huge number of Spirits engaged, for the sake of love, trying to evolve together. Mainly, though, are unaware of the sad and cruel consequences, in the spiritual point of view, of this crime against life. There are accounts of women that are on the verge of going crazy as they see themselves surrounded, during long periods of time, with “dark dots” adhered to them, as a vengeance rite, and complex process of vampirism of spiritual energies and hostility, from those were reject by their mothers and violently stopped to get to the matter in order to meet together their commitments, pivotal to everyone’s evolution.

O Consolador: How do you see criminality and violence in our country? How can Spiritist help in this situation?

When I stop to think searching inspiration about this subject with the mentors, what always hits me is that we see the result of the inversion of values in our world. Humanity has disconnected from God, and this is the result. We live in an era of superficiality, due to scientific and technological advancement over the last centuries, but in which way has this advancement helped us?! The lack of love is the reason to human suffering, the greatest lesson that is yet to be learned, even after two thousand years of Christ! In a passage of one of my books that have not been published reads useful notes from spirituality in the sense that, effectively, the main problems of humanity have their roots in the souls – from there they materialize into what we see nowadays! Indeed, machines have made the man obsolete, and the greed for power and money, made the man a disposable thing, that seeks, unconsciously, something to fill this aching void that is left. Material, technological and scientific advancement away from moral, therefore, will lead us to despair that we see in the way people deal with their lives, make mistakes and get lost, in this era that the sum of money and accumulation of wealth speaks louder than a loving life closer to children at the end of a working day. I think that, like this, we have reached the crucial point already foretold by fortune tellers and Spirits of High Degree that have visited us over the times leaving their messages. Countless groups of Spirits come to the corporeal life at this moment of planetary transition, which preludes the peaceful world in the future; it is up to us, then, choose in the sacred exercise of free-will, the goals for tomorrow, whose plots will attract us anyway, by the effects of our tuning to them.

O Consolador: You have two kids. How can you proceed to educate them in the basis of Christ?

Oh, my friend! It would be so easy if everybody thought this way! But today and ever what we should teach to these little souls under our transitional custody is just “Thou shall love thy neighbor as thyself” and the “value mainly the goods the thieves cannot steal”. It is not possible to transmit good teachings to children if they, at home, don’t count at least on some example in the sense of wearing someone else’s boots in order to examine, consciously, if what we have been doing is just and good! There is no way to teach them notions of value and honest work if we don’t lead by example, for not to incur in harm to someone else, and if we don’t find it important, with them, of a garden on weekends, or watching the sunset on the shore, or reserve some hours to reach our hands for those who need them – instead of spending great deal of time on the internet looking for the best car or watching, on TV, programs of nasty content to the formation of characters!

O Consolador: Your final words.

Despite the hard times requiring our inner reform, value and perseverance of convictions in the attitudes, the message is mainly of optimism and trust in a golden future for humanity. There are a countless number of workers of good will sustaining the Spiritist movement, accomplishing wonderful initiatives such as this Spiritist magazine, dissemination in large scale for the souls, whose benefit is impossible to precise, bearing in mind the available resources in these times of Internet! An era on Earth, from the point of view of eternity, means only a cosmic minute in the infinite journey of our souls. Certainly one day we will celebrate, all together, the blessed fruits of such efforts, with the sheer and definitive harmonization among men and beings and all the things of God, and even the setbacks, blessing the lessons we take despite our tears. This lesson surprisingly simple, as it has always been, even in the shape of difficulties, when faced with faith: “out of love there is no salvation!” I firmly believe that this Love is at any time the insoluble connection among all the components of humanity, as well as the sun stands out, victoriously, over the transition of black clouds.
