Jesus asked: “And you, who do you, say that I am?”

“And when Jesus came into the parts of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, saying, whom do men say that the Son of man is? And some said: John the Baptist; others Elijah; and others, Jeremiah, or one of the prophets. He said: And you, who do you say I am. And Simon Peter, answering, said: Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. And Jesus answering him said; “Blessed are you, Simon Barjona, for flesh and blood has not revealed it to you, but my Father who is in Heaven.” (Matthew, 16:13-17; Luke, 9:18-20; Mark, 8:27-29.)

This passage of The Gospel, according to the Spiritist Doctrine, is in the context of the questions formulated by the Divine Master about who people thought He was, whose answers showed that the general opinion attributed to Him a spiritual origin prior to that earthly life, that is, they thought that the Christ had a new existence from someone from the past, such as John the Baptist, Elijah, Jeremiah or one of the prophets, thus believing in the pre-existence of the soul and in the resurrection or reincarnation.

Then the Master asked the disciples: “And who do you say that I am?”; to which Peter, illuminated by the lights from on high, going beyond the vision of the “Son of man”, replied: “You are the Christ, son of the living God”.

Thus, the evangelical text bears witness to the perception, of that time, regarding reincarnation and, still, registers the divine intuition by the mediumship of Peter confirmed by Christ: “Blessed are you, Simon Barjonas, because the flesh and soul did not reveal it to you by blood, but my Father who is in Heaven.”

In the same direction as the question formulated by the Master Jesus to His disciples, our reflections will aim to seek doctrinal clarifications from the Spiritist Codification, by Allan Kardec, and from its complementary literature to extract specific knowledge that will help us to answer the central question and the identify Christ.

Considering that interpretations and understandings are personal perceptions, the answers to “And who do you say that I am?”, therefore, may have different points of view, depending on the conception of life, religious belief or knowledge about the Master. Even among Christians, there are doubts to answer who Jesus is.

Seeking to provide some subsidies on the subject, we selected texts for each one to reflect on their answer to the central question.

In “The Book of Spirits”, by Allan Kardec, in question 625, the Superior Spirits answer that Jesus is “the most perfect type that God has offered to man, to serve as a guide and model”. Then, Kardec comments: “For man, Jesus constitutes the type of moral perfection that Humanity can aspire to on Earth. God offers Him to us as the most perfect model and the doctrine He taught is the purest expression of the law of the Lord, because, being he the purest of all that have appeared on Earth, the Divine Spirit animated Him”.

In “The Genesis”, by Allan Kardec, in Chapter XV, in “Superiority of the nature of Jesus”, we highlight: “The superiority of Jesus in relation to men did not result from the particular qualities of His body, but from those of His Spirit, which dominated matter absolutely, and that of his perispirit, drawn from the most quintessential part of terrestrial fluids”.

The Spirit Emmanuel, in the book "O Consolador (The Comforter)", in a Francisco Candido Xavier’s psychographics, in several questions, reveals various information about the Master Jesus.

In question 85, if “Did the first planetary forms obey a special preexisting mold?” The answer is:

“- Jesus was the divine sculptor of the geological work of the planet. Together with his deputies, he illuminated the shadow of principles with the sublimated effluvia of his love, which saturated all the substances of the world in formation.

We cannot say that the forms of nature, in their initial manifestation, obeyed a preexisting mold, in the sense of imitation, because they all received the sacred influx of the heart of Christ.

The truth is that, like your material constructions, all works previously lived in the brain of an engineer or an architect, all forms of life on Earth were first conceived in His divine vision.”

In question 135, the answer sheds light on the divine cooperation of Jesus and His agents for the progress of Humanity towards God: “The Creator is always the generous and wise, fair and Friend Father, considering the misguided children as incursions in vast experiences. But, as Jesus and His agents are His divine cooperators, and they themselves institute tasks against the deviation of human creatures, they focus on the damages of evil with the force of their educational responsibilities, so that humanity can righteously follow its true path to God.”

In question 159, the answer reveals the illuminating action of Jesus and His agents on planet Earth: “The so-called actions of the invisible plane, of any nature, do not occur in the absence of Jesus and His agents, mentors of man on his journey of experiences to knowledge and to light.”

In question 225, the answer highlights the Gospel of Jesus as the path of the spiritual redemption of the human being in his ascension to reach higher planes:

“Considering this real aspect of the problem of the salvation of the soul, we are compelled to recognize that, if divine Providence has mobilized all the resources indispensable to the material progress of physical man on Earth, the Gospel of Jesus is the supreme gift of Heaven for the redemption of the spiritual man marching to love and universal knowledge.

- Jesus is the supreme model.

The Gospel is the roadmap for the ascension of all struggling Spirits, the learning on Earth for the superior planes of the unlimited. From its application flows the light of the Spirit.”

In question 243, the answer clarifies the Master as the spiritual governor of planet Earth, since the beginnings of the orb: “- All spiritual entities incarnated in the terrestrial orb are Spirits that rescue themselves or learn in human experiences, after the falls of the past, with the exception of Jesus Christ, foundation of all truth in this world, whose evolution took place in a straight line to God, and in whose angelic hands rests the spiritual government of the planet, from its beginnings.”

In question 261, in the same sense as the previous one, for the question “In the beginning was the Word...” – How should we understand this affirmation of the sacred text?” The answer is:

“The apostle John still warns us that ‘the Word was God and was with God.

God is love and life and the perfect expression of the Word for the terrestrial orb was and is Jesus, identified with His Mercy and Wisdom, since the primordial organization of the planet.

Visible or hidden, the Word is the trace of divine light in all things and in all beings, in the most varied conditions of the bettering process.”

In question 283, "With reference to Jesus, how to interpret the meaning of John's words: “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth?” The answer is:

“First of all, we need to understand that Jesus was not a philosopher and cannot be classified among properly human values, taking into account the divine values of His spiritual hierarchy, in the direction of earthly collectivities.

Sent by God, he was the representation of the Father among the flock of children who had lost His love and wisdom, whose guardianship was entrusted to Him in the sacred ordinances of life in the Infinite.

Angelic director of the orb, His heart did not disdain the direct permanence among the miserable and ignorant wards, giving rise to the words of the apostle, mentioned above.”

Angelic director of the orb, His heart did not disdain the direct permanence among the miserable and ignorant wards, giving rise to the words of the apostle, mentioned above.”

The Spirit Emmanuel, in the book “On the way to light (A Caminho da Paz)”, in a psychographics of Francisco Candido Xavier, in Chapter I, “The Planetary Genesis”, in “The Community of Pure Spirits”, clarifies:

“The traditions of the spiritual world say that in the direction of all phenomena, of our system, there is a community of pure Spirits, chosen by the supreme Lord of the Universe, in whose hands the directing reins of life of all planetary collectivities are preserved.

This community of angelic and perfect beings, of which Jesus is one of the divine members, as far as we know, has only met, close to Earth, to solve decisive problems in the organization and direction of our planet, for twice in the course of known millennia.

The first took place when the terrestrial orb was detaching itself from the solar nebula, in order to launch, in time and space, the beacons of our cosmogony system and the prodromes of life in the ignited matter of the planet, and the second, when the Lord's coming to the face of the Earth was decided, bringing to the human family the immortal lesson of his Gospel of love and redemption.”

Emmanuel, in the same book, in Chapter II, in “The Organized Life”, continues to reveal other information:

“Under the merciful and wise guidance of Christ, numerous assemblies of spiritual workers worked on Earth.

Like modern engineering, which builds a building with the smallest requirements of its purpose, the artists of spirituality built the world of cells, beginning, in primeval days, the construction of the organized and intelligent forms of the centuries to come.

That is why, at all times, beauty, together with order, has constituted one of the indelible traits of all creation.

The shapes of all the oars of terrestrial nature were studied and predicted. The fluids of life were manipulated in order to adapt to the physical conditions of the planet, staging the cellular constructions according to the possibilities of the terrestrial environment, all obeying a pre-established plan by the merciful wisdom of the Christ, considering the laws of principle and general development. (...)

The types suited to Earth were consummated in all the kingdoms of Nature, the teratological and strange fruits being eliminated from the laboratory of their persevering experiments. (...)

The spiritual forces that direct terrestrial phenomena, under the guidance of Christ, established, at the time of the great malleability of the material elements, a definitive lineage for all species, within which the spiritual principle would find the process of its crisolation, in march towards the rationality. Fish, reptiles, mammals, had their fixed lineages of development and man would not escape this general rule.”

In “The Genesis”, Chapter II – God, “The Providence”, in items 24 and 27, Kardec reveals knowledge about divine solicitude and solidarity existing throughout the Universe, as follows:

“Whether or not this is so with regard to the thought of God, that is, whether the thought of God acts directly or through a fluid, let us represent it, to facilitate our understanding, in the concrete form of an intelligent fluid filling the infinite Universe, and penetrating all parts of Creation: the whole of Nature is immersed in the divine fluid. (...)

A similar phenomenon occurs between God and Creation. God is everywhere, in Nature, as the Spirit is everywhere, in the body. All the elements of Creation are in constant relationship with Him, as all the cells of the human body are in immediate contact with the spiritual being. There is, therefore, no reason why phenomena of the same order should not be produced in the same way, in either case.

A member stirs: the Spirit feels it; a creature thinks: God knows it. All the limbs are in motion, the different organs are vibrating; the Spirit resents all manifestations, distinguishes and locates them. Different creations, different creatures move, think, act differently: God knows everything that happens and attributes to each one what concerns him.

From this can also be deduced the solidarity of matter and intelligence, the solidarity with each other of all beings in a world, that of all worlds and, finally, of all creations with the Creator.”

From these excerpts of the Codification, one can identify the solidarity that exists, both of matter and of intelligence, for the propagation of the Supreme Creator's thought, in the form of an intelligent fluid, which radiates and acts throughout the Universe, penetrating all parts of the Universe. Creation. This is because all beings of infinity and the entire nature are immersed in the universal cosmic fluid (divine fluid or divine plasma). Thus, everything in the Universe is connected, composing a solidary whole.

Through this universal smart grid, God is everywhere. All the elements of creation are in constant relationship with God, making him omniscient of everything that happens and supplies each one with what concerns him.

The Spirit Andre Luiz, in the book “Evolution in two worlds” (Evolução em dois Mundos), in Chapter 1 – Fluido cósmico (Cosmic Fluid), in a psychographics of Francisco Candido Xavier, clarifies:

“Divine Plasma – The cosmic fluid is the divine plasma, breath of the Creator or nervous force of the All-Wise. In this primordial element, constellations and suns, worlds and beings, vibrate and live, like fish in the ocean.

Co-creation in a greater plan - In this original substance, at the influx of the Supreme Lord himself, the Divine Intelligences aggregated to Him operate, in a process of indescribable communion, the great devas of Hindu theology or the archangels of the interpretation of various religious temples, extracting from this spiritual breath the energy granaries with which they build the systems of immensity, in service of co-creation on a larger plane, in accordance with the designs of the All-Merciful, who makes them guiding agents of the Excellency Creation.

These glorious Intelligences take the divine plasma and convert it into cosmic dwellings, of multiple expressions, radiant or obscure, gasified or solid, obeying predetermined laws, like dwellings that last for millennia and millennia, but that eventually wear out and transform, since the created Spirit can form or co-create, but God alone is the Creator of all eternity.

Stellar empires - Due to the work of these major architects, stellar organizations appear in galaxies as vast continents of the evolving Universe and intragalactic nebulae as immense domains of the Universe, ending evolution in a potential state, all gravitating around attractive points, with admirable coordinating uniformity.

The Spirit Andre Luiz brings light to the knowledge that the divine intelligences linked to the Supreme Creator, at his command and influx, in perfect communion, immersed in the divine plasma, cooperate with the Creator in the construction of the systems of the Universe, converting them into cosmic dwellings, in a service of co-creation on the greater plane, making them also collaborating agents of Creation. These intelligences linked to the Creator, obeying the laws of God, can form or co-create, but only God is the Creator of all eternity.

By these revelations, Jesus, as a member of the community of pure Spirits and chosen by the Supreme Lord of the Universe, is the most perfect expression of the divine verb for the terrestrial orb, identified with his mercy and wisdom, since the primordial organization of the planet. All this proves the divine values of Jesus of the highest spiritual hierarchy, who became flesh, the anointed Son of God, the Father, as his Envoy, the Father's representation among the flock of children who had been strayed from his love and wisdom, and Director angelic of the terrestrial orb.

Jesus is the most perfect type that God offered to man to serve as a guide and model, that is, an example of moral perfection to which humanity on Earth can aspire, and the doctrine he taught is the purest expression of divine law.

Jesus as divine co-creator, “sent from God, he was the representation of the Father among the flock of children who had lost his love and wisdom, whose guardianship was entrusted to him in the sacred ordinances of life in the Infinite”, being the “Angelical Director of the terrestrial orb.

For all this, Jesus Christ, as governor of the terrestrial orb, whether on Earth or in Heaven, has always been and will be with us every day until the end of the centuries, when He will preside over the transformations of the transition of the planet, aided by His direct servants, the Pure spirits or “angels”, heavenly agents, who have the support of enlightened spirits, benefactors and friendly entities.
