Family is more than a
purifying crucible

The family is the most important social institution for the realization of being as an individual capable of making new relationships. The importance of the parents in the existence of the child, when recognized as the determining link of all the psychic development of the being, must be meditated by all participants in the family nucleus to guide the whole in the pursuit of sublimation.

But... how far we are from accepting such a project of spiritual elevation! Or rather, the vast majority of us accepted such a project when the choices that served as the basis for reincarnation programming. However, once in the flesh, the forgetfulness of the past coupled with the obliteration of intuition makes us forget the commitments assumed, slipping into the unconscious quest for the satisfaction of less worthy desires.

Selfishness is the element that works against any attempt to reunite the members of the same family. A gathering of forces to strengthen the bonds of family affectivity is shaken by a simple selfish attitude of one of its members. And when it comes from one parent, the effect is devastating. Because the role of the parents is to educate by their behavior, among other attributions, besides that, during much of the children's life, they are the first reference for the formation of the character.

Selfishness is an animal trait that is the result of the cult of personality and the submission of others-interest to self-interest. If the family has to deal with such a strong and imposing opponent, how do they resist to it?

Renounce.

"It is indispensable to cultivate the renunciation of the small desires that are peculiar to us in order to conquer the capacity for sacrifice, which will structure us to sublimation at higher levels" (Emmanuel, Living Source, Chapter 163.)

Give up the small desire to be respected, the small desire to be followed, to be beneficial, to be influential, to be respected, to be prestigious, to be a leader, to be an example, to be loved.

Renunciation is the protective shield against the onslaughts of selfishness. And this exercise will make us capable of sacrificing the selfishness that develops in us.

Renunciation is the daughter of humility. And humiliation is the mechanism that makes us more humble. If we understand the pedagogical end of humiliation, we will see that we pass through a purified proof and that, if we submit to it without complaint, without wounded pride, we will have as a "crown of laurel" the discharge of many debts. Objectively, therefore, humiliation is the proof that ennobles our character and makes us fit to the highest sublimation.

It is necessary to cultivate the harmony between parents and children. If this harmony is broken, it must labor to reestablish it.

In an environment of concord it is possible to trim the edges, making the relationship less prickly. And it is again the renunciation that sinks deeper into hearts. To be silent when the discussion is established, to listen with attention and affection, to know how to calm the exalted moods, shutting yourself so that the other feels welcomed.

How many tears suffused so as not to hurt the one you love!

How many sorrows!

The family is more than a purifying crucible it is a laboratory whose most noble element is love.
