Spirit Centers must rethink

Antonio Cesar Perri de Carvalho, former president of FEB, makes a reflection on the Spiritist Center in the article Rethinking Spiritist Centers. From Paul to current days, special subject of this edition, whose notes deserve to be considered.

"The moral teaching contained in the Epistles and the simplicity of the early Christians can contribute to the necessary reflections that must be done in the centers and the Spiritist movement." (Perri de Carvalho)

Emmanuel always reminds us that Spiritism relives the primitive experience of Christianity, in all its simplicity and without any pretension, so it is called Redistributed Christianity.

"Thus, we do not propose organizational structures and activities that could be characterized as typical of a more complex administrative and doctrinal organization. We are well aware that many of the centers do not have the so-called 'departments' and would not have the human resources to set them up." (Perri de Carvalho)

The mold of the works in the spirit house, and its consequent bureaucratization, contributes to the stagnation of services. "Do not quench the Spirit" (Thessalonians 5:19). It is, therefore, in the simple environments, chosen from any sophistication, that there are more spontaneous communications of the messenger spirits.

"Spirit centers, being less formal and more oriented to fraternal solidarity, should have concerns starting from the environment within the work team and the reception to the beginners and interested parties." (Perri de Carvalho)

The harmony between the members of the spirit center is essential to receive the assistance of the Good Spirits, who come to protect and guide the works of the house. For this reason, the solidarity between the workers of the center and the fraternal welcome of all the assistants form a cohesive group in the mutual love.

"The essential thing is to open spaces for 'in-service training' and for actions to integrate collaborators, with an overall view of the Spirit Center itself." (Perri de Carvalho)

As it occurs in most Spiritist centers, volunteers could be welcomed from the common service, integrating new collaborators in the practice of spiritual and material assistance to those assisted in the Spirit Center. Unfortunately, some houses require bureaucratic formalization, for example, that new adherents take several years of study before they can provide some service at the spirit center, even if it is the simple distribution of magnetized water.

"The flag that we unfurl very high is the one of the Christian and humanitarian Spiritism, around which we already have the opportunity to see, in all parts of the globe, so many men gathered, for they understand that there is the anchor of salvation, Safeguard of public order, the sign of a new era for humanity." (Allan Kardec, The Book of Mediums, item 350, quoted by Perri de Carvalho)

Kardec is quite clear: Spirit centers fulfill the role of cells of light to spread the truth and also to gather men of good will to welcome, as an anchor of salvation, all those who suffer and, therefore, seek them.

Spiritism requires the renewal of man so that men renew society.

The insignia of these new fighters of the Lord is Christian and humanitarian Spiritism, and its motto is beyond charity there is no salvation, an essential precept in the building of a new era for Humanity that inhabits the world in which we live in.
