Eddie, the curious boy

Once upon a time there was a boy called Edward, whose nickname was Eddie. One day, he went for a walk at a farm where his friend Peter's grandparents lived. It was a very beautiful place, with many trees, flowers, and also many different animals.

Eddie loved seeing roosters, chickens, pigs, horses and even a green frog up close, which jumped around.

When he met the rooster, he was enchanted by the way he crowed.

The sound he made was more or less like this:

Cock-a-doodle-do!

Then, Eddie passed the duck, which also made a different sound, but in a different way:

- Quack… quack… quack…

Eddie then started imitating the animals and had a lot of fun.

Afterwards, Eddie asked his mother:

- Mom, do all animals communicate?

- Yes - replied the mother.

- And they all have a nose, mouth, and eyes?

- All animals were created by God - replied the mother. - But each species has its characteristics. He gave everyone the perfect body for the kind of life they have. Roosters, chickens, pigs, horses, and frogs make their own sounds and have ears to hear.

- They also breathe and smell - she continued. - And like us, they have eyes to see. We human beings have hands with fingers, which allow us to pick up and use objects. Roosters and ducks don't have hands, but they do have wings. The others have paws. Each one is adapted to their lifestyle, as God created them.

Eddie found it incredible to observe the animals and learn more about God's wonderful creation. Suddenly, he realized that his body was also His creation, and said:

- Oh my! How many things God has done... With my mouth I can eat, speak, whistle, blow, sing... I have two ears to hear, a nose to breathe and smell... And eyes! How important they are! Hands are too! And the feet!

- That’s right my son - said the mother, happy, seeing Eddie's excitement. - Let's thank God for the body we have. It is a gift from God.

Eddie agreed smiling. And then he ran away to play.
