The friendly tree

In a field there was a big, beautiful tree. Her canopy provided great shade and in her strong branches many birds rested from their flights, took shelter for the night and built their nests.

She was a friend of animals, welcomed everyone with great affection. Even a beehive lived there.

Early in the morning, at dawn, the tree said “good morning” to the birds and admired their singing. Afterwards, she also greeted the bees as they gradually left for another day of work.

She lived happily, helping her little friends in everything she could.

But one day, she heard the birds talking. One of them explained to the other the way to get to another tree that had borne fruit.

- She is loaded with ripe fruits. They are delicious! Tomorrow I'm going back there, you can fly with me if you want - said one of them.

The tree already knew that she did not produce flowers. The bees had to look for nectar from other plants. But now she had realized that she could not bear fruit either and this made her very sad.

If she bore fruit, in addition to her friends being able to feed right there, other birds could come too, and she could make more friends.

The tree was great, but she began to cultivate this thought that she wasn't that good and that she didn't have enough to offer her friends. This, in addition to making her sad, began to weaken her, as she no longer had as much energy to grow, to form good branches and good leaves.

One day there was a heavy rain and the nests and the hive swayed so much in the wind that they almost fell. This had never happened before. Everyone was very scared. Including the tree.

The rain passed and calm came. And then the birds and the bees heard the tree crying.

- I think you better find another tree to live in. I'm not good enough. I no longer have flowers or fruits and today I was unable to protect you from the storm. I’m no good - said the tree, crying.

- What are you saying?  said a little bird - We want to continue living here! You are strong, big, beautiful and you are our friend!

- It’s truth! - said the queen of the bees - it was here that I chose, among yours welcoming branches, the best place to install my hive. We are happy and grateful to you.

- It doesn't matter that you don't have flowers or fruits! - she continued. - We have wings, we need to exercise them, don't we? Even if you had them, we would fly and try other flavors.

The animals continued talking to the tree and giving her, in addition to explanations, the affection she needed.

At the end of the conversation, she felt very good. She thanked her friends, who made her realize that she was previously devaluing herself, thinking only about what she didn't have and forgetting everything she was.

The next day the tree returned to saying “good morning” to her friends with great joy, she once again had the courage to help them, just the way she was, and became very happy again.
