Letter to the reader

Year 17 - 825 - May 28, 2023

Inner reform is essential to our spiritual evolution

The thought expressed in the sentence above is from the spiritist scholar Anselmo Ferreira Vasconcelos, from São Paulo-SP, author of the Special that we publish in this edition and it is one of its highlights. The proposed transformation, says the columnist, infuses “new purposes and meaning into our lives”. But, he warns, only really strong spirits have the moral strength and dignity to carry out this exercise, although we know that this initiative is vital for those who want something beyond the glories and successes typical of corporeal life.

A native of São João do Paraíso, currently residing in Montes Claro-MG, Wanderlino Arruda is our interviewee. Graduated in Letters and Law, with a postgraduate degree in Linguistics, Semantics and Brazilian Literature and specialization in Social Communication and Higher Education Methodology, he is a member of the Council of the Spiritist Fraternity Canacy, which he has chaired for three terms, in addition to being a lecturer, writer, poet and member of several educational and literary institutions.

It passed away at the age of 97 in the early hours of May 19, in Juiz de Fora-MG, our friend José Passini, doctor in Linguistics and internationally known Esperantist. Professor and former rector of the Federal University of Juiz de Fora, he was born in Nova Itapirema, in the interior of São Paulo, but lived for more than 75 years in Juiz de Fora. Renowned Spiritist speaker, he was one of the collaborators of the magazine O Consolador, in which he was part of the Editorial Board since its foundation on 18/4/2007.
