The proud rose

Once upon a time there was a very beautiful rose. Her beauty was admired by everyone and because of it she felt really proud.

There was a cactus next to her, but they didn't live well. Rose thought he was ugly and insulted him frequently. The cactus, in return, preferred not to have her as a neighbor.

Once, in the summertime, the well in the garden dried up. All the plants there began to suffer from the lack of water. The rose began to wither and lose her beauty.

One day a sparrow came to dip his beak into the cactus wanting some water. The cactus managed to store a lot of water and was the only one not suffering from drought.

Although embarrassed, the rose had no choice but to ask the cactus if he could also give her some water. The cactus was good and held no grudges. He knew how difficult the situation was for the other plants. So, he took pity on the suffering of the rose, which, in addition to becoming ugly, was almost dying of thirst.

So, kindly, the cactus agreed to help the rose and they both spent that difficult summer as friends. The rose understood that being just beautiful was worth nothing if she wasn't good inside, because the cactus had something very valuable inside.

Materially he had water, but morally he had goodness and that was the most important thing.

When the drought was gone, the rose became beautiful again. But now she was beautiful inside, too, because she had acquired humility.

She never insulted the cactus again and the two became friends and lived happily in that garden.
