Kindness, friend of humility
Traffic, at the end of the afternoon, as it is common in
big cities, it was jammed.
The tired drivers were in a hurry, and the slowness of
the traffic made them nervous.
Lucas was one of those drivers and he tried to get out
of that situation in every possible way. Suddenly, the
cars in the next lane started to move and Lucas, taking
advantage of the opportunity, made a quick maneuver,
changing to the other lane in order to take his car a
little further.
He did not notice, however, the car that came right
behind it, forcing the driver to brake quickly. The horn
sound followed, and Lucas, in the rearview mirror, could
see that the driver of the other car had been quite
upset.
The cars were moving slowly, as the traffic light turned
green and red, until Lucas and the driver of the other
car stopped next to each other.
Lucas looked to the side and, realizing that the other
was still very angry and even ready to curse him, he
rolled down the car window and said:
– Forgive me friend, I made a mistake when moving the
car in front of you. I was nervous about the traffic and
made a risky maneuver. Luckily you managed to avoid
crashing. I thank you and ask you to forgive me.
The other driver was surprised. He was ready for a
fight. But upon realizing Lucas's humility, at the same
moment he calmed down and said gently:
- All good! I understand! This traffic makes us really
nervous. Let's try to take it easy going forward. The
important thing is that we arrive well, right?
Lucas nodded and thanked him for his understanding.
The two remained close for some time and, after they
distanced themselves, it took a little longer to reach
their destinations. But the important thing is that, at
least, they were not disturbed further.
After all, in traffic, or in any situation, with
humility and kindness, everything gets better.
