What’s the use of the psychological aspect of Spiritualism?

Spiritism presents itself in the condition of unveiling the philosophy of that which until now has been taken as an indecipherable myth: the origin and destiny of Spirits 

 (Second and Final Part) 


Philosophy is the search for truth, not its ownership, as affirmed by the German philosopher named Jaspers,  concluding that " to philosophy is to be on the path, the questions in philosophy are more essential than the answers and each answer becomes a new question. "

Ask, ask and ask! ... Was that not what Kardec did?! ... And is it not that which is advised by the Spirits from the higher realms? [1]

To safely delve the boundaries and intricacies of Spiritist Christian Philosophy we follow the lucid explanation of our colleague Victor Leonardo da Silva, who picked from the "Spiritist Journal", a divulging body of the Spiritist Federation of São Paulo State, issue of November  2000:

"(...) From immemorial time, the human being has always tried to explain the phenomena of nature by unnatural causes.  Man used his scant knowledge allied to magical thinking. The creation of myths to explain natural phenomena like rain, thunder, earthquakes, wind etc resulted from this.

Around the 5th century before Christ, Greece had many colonies in Asia Minor (now the territory of Turkey). In these cities, there were people from various cultures such as Greeks, Jews, Babylonians, Egyptians, Medes, Persians ...The Greek thinkers who lived there, noted that for a same phenomenon, there were several explanations, each one accordingly to the culture. They then concluded that for such explanations to be true, they had to be based on 'natural' elements. This reasoning led them to abandon the myths and to understand reality through causes produced by Nature. There should be a principle primitive arché causing all things. 

As a view of the world the acceptance of the idea of a creator God,  is plausible 

The first philosopher was Thales, from the city of Miletus, who attributed the cause of everything to water. Others appeared who pointed out fire, earth and air as a cause. Empedocles and Aristotle adopted these four elements together. There were others who devised an arché theory such as homoeomeries, the apeiron and the atom.

During the Middle Ages, Christianity, which had received the influence of Judaism, needed to become adapted to the Greek Philosophy to take root in Greco-Roman world.. St. Augustine added the Patristic to these two schools as philosophy; because it is thought that;  since they have religious influence, they do not explain the reality only through natural causes. This explanation of reality is a view of the world [Weltanschauung or cosmovision]. As a view of the world, the acceptance of the idea of a God creator, is plausible.. Therefore, they are accepted as philosophies by the majority who are not materialistic.

Spiritism would be the third Christian philosophy. It would have been revealed in order to give a new vision of the world to Humanity who would prepare itself to join in the regeneration phase. Normally, The Spirits' Book is appointed as the philosophical content of the codification carried out by Kardec.In fact, the entire Codification presents its philosophical aspects. The first part of this book, which is set out in the book Genesis, presents the Metaphysics, the Theodicy, Philosophical Anthropology and spiritist Cosmology. The second part, detailed in The Book of Mediums, again sets out the Philosophical Anthropology and the spiritist Cosmology. The third part, detailed in The Gospel According to Spiritism, provides notions of the philosophical position of Spiritism on Ethics, Theory of Knowledge, Spiritist Philosophy of Education, Philosophy of Law, Economic Philosophy, Social Philosophy, Philosophy of History. The fourth part, which talks about the penalties and joys to come, being developed in the book Heaven and Hell, addresses the characteristics of the spiritist Theodicy.         

We affirm that in order to be Christian, there is no obligation to adopt trinitarianism 

The Spiritist Codification has a rich philosophical content which may well be used for this faithless and hopeless humanity...

The traditional Christians claim that Spiritism is not a Christian philosophy by not accepting trinitarianism (incomprehensible and illogical theory originated in India and introduced by the Fathers of the Church to Christianity, and which believes that God consists of three people called the Trinity: father, Son and Holy Spirit). Let us remember that the trinity is as strange to the Greek Philosophy as it is to Judaism, which are both philosophies that form the basis of Christianity. Trinitarianism was introduced in Greece during the Hellenistic period by the neo-Platonist philosopher Ammonius Sacas, who had lived fifteen years in India, from where he brought this concept. In the early Christian era, there were two opposing currents: one led by bishop Arius [Arianism], that admitted a single and only God, and the Neoplatonists [trinitarianism], who also admitted one God, but triune. When Constantine decided to adopt Christianity as the official religion of his empire; aiming at the political purpose of avoiding its fragmentation; he summoned the Council of Nicaea in 325, and resolved this problem by leaning towards the Neoplatonic position, since many of his nobles from who he depended on politically espoused this doctrine. Therefore, we affirm that in order to be Christian, there is no requirement to be Trinitarian. In all the works of Kardec there is constant reference to Christianity and recommendations to follow it. The existence of the book The Gospel According to Spiritism, which interprets the parables and the good news, is sufficient proof of his fidelity to the teachings of Christ, who is the Model and the most perfect and unique Guide there has ever been. What we do not accept is that others Christian groups deemed only their interpretations as authentic. Thus, then we can say without a doubt that Spiritism is the Third Christian Philosophy, which came to supplement and explain the previous two. "

If today there is Catholicism, this is due solely and exclusively to Constantine 

It is not difficult to conclude that if today there is Catholicism and not Arianism, this is due solely and exclusively to Constantine and his political manoeuvres aimed at strengthening and unification of his empire ...

We conclude with the wise words of Viana de Carvalho:[2]

"(...) The search for truth has been interminable, laborious, complex ... As a Phoenix, the truth rises from the ashes where it seems to be consumed, presenting stronger and brighter every rebirth, in the incessant attempt to remain in the world.

This was the case with Allan Kardec on presenting Spiritism, in a synthesis of science that proves immortality, reincarnation, the whirling life before the cradle and after the grave, on condition of philosophy that balances out enigmas that trouble the minds andthe behaviours of human beings and as a religion devoid of formulas, mysticism, ritual, giving rise to man’s identification with his reality in constant connection with his Creator.

At the time of investigations around the micro and macrocosm, of the unfolding of scientific philosophies, Spiritism relies on them for confirmation of its philosophical tenets. Based on the fact that it explains itself, exposes the contents of optimistic philosophy that give meaning to the earthly existence, the harmonious overall set of life; dating back to Biology, Anthropology, to Embryogeny, to Nuclear Physics and to the psychological philosophies, complements them with its clarifications, which constitute the causality of events, contributing to enhanced sociological values that are able to modify the constitution and structure of the human community. 

Spiritism maintains the certainty of life here and in the spheres that gravitate in the cosmos 

Based on the morality of Christ, as well as of His predecessors, particularly Plato and Socrates, Spiritism becomes the cosmic religion of Love, which houses all sentient beings fraternising them before the Divine and Unique Fatherhood. Hovering, rational and demonstrable, in the stormy skies of the century of Enlightenment, it reaches the present, clearly and increasingly forcefully so, in the face of growing scientific research achievements in various fields which demonstrate it and confirm its legitimacy.

When man with his spatial crafts seek to explore the stars of the stellar archipelago around us; Spiritism confirming the many Abodes of the Father, according to the lucid and happy expression of Jesus on the plurality of inhabited worlds; maintains the certainty of transcendental quality of life, not just in the shadows of the blessed planet earth, but also in other spheres that gravitate in the cosmos, singing hymns of praise to the Creator of the Universe.

Thus, the truth slowly unveiled in fragments, through the centuries, by the various Spiritualists philosophies, in Spiritism it shines and triumphs, singing the glory of God and inviting the human spirit to growth, to liberation, to fullness. "
