A chat with Jorge Gomes
from Portugal

This week’s editorial, The concept on the eternal punishment is a misconception  explains why the doctrine of eternal punishment, taught by the Church is not accepted by Spiritism.

Jorge Gomes, editor of "Journal of Spiritism," created by the Association of Promoters of Spiritism of Portugal (ADEP), talks about the important objectives of the journal, in an interview that - given to the colleague José Lucas - is one of the highlights of this issue.

Another highlight of this issue is the special article “From atom to the angel: the evolution of the intelligent principle”, authored by the colleague Ricardo Baesso de Oliveira, from Juiz de Fora, MG. The article was divided into two parts; the conclusion will be published next week.

On April 18th thorugh 21st, the colleague Divaldo Franco was active in doctrinal activities in Rio Grande do Sul  in the cities Caxias do Sul, Vacaria, Novo Hamburgo and Porto Alegre, as shown in the report by Paulo Salerno, which is also one of the highlights of this edition.

Yesterday, May 5th, Divaldo Franco completed 85 years of age. Born in Feira de Santana, Bahia in 1927, Divaldo is certainly the best known spiritist in the world, not only for the dozens of works that he has psychographed, but especially for the conferences where he has been presenting for 65 years in hundreds of locations in Brazil and abroad.
