Suffering in the eyes of the Buddha and Spiritism

This week’ editorial, Goals for the new year, reminds us that the goals of our existence in the world go beyond the material aspects of the human experience.

A highlight of the week is the interview given to our colleague Orson Peter Carrara by our colleague Paulo Henrique Bueno, president of the Allan Kardec Spiritist Center of Carmo do Rio Claro-MG, who talks about the spiritist movement in his city.

Another feature is the special article by Leonardo Machado, from Recife-PE, entitled The four noble truths and the spiritist vision on suffering, which explores the question of suffering in the eyes of the Buddha and the spiritist doctrine.

The book "Start at the very beginning - Spiritist Education for Children and Adolescents: a work proposal," by Martha Rios Guimarães, was launched last month in São Paulo-SP, as shown in a special report in this issue.

*

On this date - the first of January in 1846 - was born in Foug, France, Léon Denis, author of important works of spiritist literature and considered one of the main followers of the work started by Kardec, the Codifier of Spiritism, alongside Gabriel Delanne and Camille Flammarion.
