A Chat with Simoni Privato Goidanich

Slaughter in Rio” is the title of this week’s editorial that examines the possible causes of the attack struck by the young Wellington Menezes de Oliveira on April 7th, which left 12 children dead at the Municipal School Tasso da Silveira, in Realengo, Rio de Janeiro.

One of the highlights of this edition is the interview given by Simoni Privato Goidanich to the journalist Katia Fabiana Fernandes, in London. A career diplomat and author of the series “Mediumship and Spiritism”, which is being presented on the youtube channel TheEstudios Espiritas, Simoni talks about this series and her initiation into Spiritism, and also describes how the spiritist movement is doing in Uruguay, where she currently resides.

Another highlight of this issue is the conclusion of the special article by Luciano dos Anjos where our colleague and well known journalist states that Chico Xavier was the medium Ruth-Céline Japhet, who had a prominent role in the first phase of the codification of the spiritist doctrine.

“Humberto Werdine in Scandinavia”, is the subject of the feature story by Claudia Werdine about Harmoniexpo, the spiritist fair held in Stockholm in early April. The story is also one of the highlights of this edition.

On April 15th, we celebrate one more anniversary of the launch in Paris of the first edition of "The Gospel According to Spiritism", which took place in 1864. The book had another title in its original edition: “Imitation of the Gospel”, replaced in the second edition by its current title. Among the five major works of Spiritism, this is the one that puts greater emphasis on ethical matters and human behavior.
