Cauci de Sá Roriz:

“The Spiritist Center which has implemented ESDE properly has no problems whatsoever as to well-prepared workers”

Cauci de Sá Roriz (picture) was born in Belo Horizonte (MG), has already lived in Rio de Janeiro and Brasília, and currently resides in Goiania, capital of Goiás. Manager and worker of TRT, Spiritist since birth, assistant president of the Spiritist Federation of the State of Goiás (FEEGO) and president of the Deliberative Council of the institution, he is a lecturer and participant of radio and TV programs, besides being involved with the mediumistic area and active preacher of ESDE – Systematized Study of the Spiritist Doctrine, subject which he brings us important information in the following interview.

O Consolador: As the assistant president at the Spiritist Federation of the State of Goiás, which experiences would you consider as the most important ones in terms of Spiritist movement statewide?

People of Goiás are generous and hospitable. Thus, even with the huge field of actuation the state offers us, the workers of the Spiritist Federation of the State of Goiás are always welcomed even by brothers of other religious segments. This characteristic facilitates the traffic of the team of the Spiritist Federation of the State of Goiás all over the place.

O Consolador: Who is the current president at FEEGO? And what is the main focus of his tenure?

The current president at the Spiritist Federation of the State of Goiás is Dr. Weimar Muniz de Oliveira, retired judge, who has been conducting the Spiritist movement in Goiás. The main focus of his tenure is fraternity, according to Jesus: “love each other, as I loved you all”. Such focus has met the demand of the National Federative Council as to the creation of an area of fraternal work in Spiritist institutions in order to help more effectively those who seek help.

O Consolador: In meetings with Spiritist directors, in the movement of unification, what are the main difficulties presented? And what are the most expressive victories for the state movement?

The biggest difficulty, as it is in other states, is the qualification of workers. The improvisation time has passed already. Good will is indeed important, but it is not enough. It’s needed, in the imminence of the Era of the Spirit on the planet, confreres who have knowledge of the Spiritist Doctrine and specifically the area they exercise.

O Consolador: As a lecturer and participant of radio and TV programs, which experiences would you like to talk about?

The Spiritist lecturer has little living with the dynamics required for radio and TV programs. In the lecture, generally, the final argument is presented after an exposition of 40 - 50 minutes. On radio and TV we have a few seconds to give our message. This short space of time must, therefore, be made the most of with immediate information, direct, positive, and clear. Changing the dynamics of a lecturer to participate on radio and TV is something we need to exercise in order to use better this powerful means of communication which reaches thousand homes.

O Consolador: What view of the complex challenges of nowadays does your predilection for the religious part of Spiritism bring?

Despite all technological advancement, the man is still astonished and impotent to existential dilemmas. This shows that science and philosophy are not the objective of the Spiritist Doctrine, but means to accomplish better the religiosity of each one. Had Science and Philosophy been the focus of the Spiritist Doctrine its development would have happened in France, not Brazil, where the religious aspect is dominant. Now, it doesn’t mean that we should disregard the scientific and philosophical aspect but use it for our moral enhancement. Let’s remember Kardec, on item 303 of The Mediums’ Book, where he says that the objective of Spiritism is the moral enhancement of humanity. The compiler calls our attention to the religious aspect.

O Consolador: What about your experiences as coordinator of mediumistic meetings and ESDE?

Mediumistic meeting is an opportunity of individual enhancement as it proves that life goes on. It is also an opportunity to strengthen the ties of friendship among participants. ESDE is the main entrance door for the learning of the Spiritist. It’s rewarding to see people getting to know Spiritism through ESDE and, as time goes by, becoming workers with solid doctrinal knowledge. Check this out: The Spiritist Center which has implemented ESDE properly has no problems whatsoever as to well-prepared workers. This is it.

O Consolador: Have you published any books?

I haven’t had any books published. My professional life has not let me do it yet. Maybe in the future...

O Consolador: How many Spiritist institutions are there in Goiania? And in the state of Goiás?

Goiânia has about 1 million inhabitants and more than 150 Spiritist institutions. In the state there are about 4 million inhabitants and nearly 500 Spiritist Centers. There are some cities with no Spiritist Centers though, and they are our concern at FEEGO.

O Consolador: Has the proximity with the federal capital been positive for the Spiritist movement in the state?

The Spiritist movement here is gifted for having this proximity. Whenever we need the Brazilian Spiritist Federation has always helped us.

O Consolador: And spreading Spiritism through books, in the state, how has it been?

We have excellent publishers and book retailers in our state. FEEGO owns one, in order to provide a good Spiritist reading, in these times of self-help books that, most of times, have no good content. Those who want uplifting reading count on the orientation given by publishers and Spiritist retailers.

O Consolador: What about radio and TV?

On radio and TV interviews we take part we always base ourselves on the Basic Works of our Doctrine, showing the title of the book and author so that the listener/watcher can go deeper in the subject. In the program Spiritist Space, maintained by the local Spiritist movement, broadcast by TV Cultura, we have a section called “Book Hint” in which we talk about the book we based ourselves on the program.
