The Currupaco Parakeet

Once upon a time there was a parakeet named Currupaco. He lived in a very tall tree and was known as Currupaco because from up there, in addition to talking a lot, he was making fun of other animals in the surroundings.

One day, Currupaco saw Mrs. Duck, out of breath, shooing away some flies that were disturbing her:

- Get out there, you all flies, go away! You are interfering with my work!

The parakeet found that very funny and began to imitate Mrs. Duck, playing shadow and repeating everything the poor duck said.

- Stop imitating me, your arrogant parakeet! - said Mrs. Duck, with no luck, as he had loved the new game.

The flies left and Currupaco, after getting tired, also left.

The wise baboon Roni, who was a very intelligent monkey, was seeing everything and decided to talk to Currupaco:

- My little friend! Why do you do this to Mrs. Duck, and to all the other animals in this forest? I've been watching you mocking, simulating, disrupting everyone's lives. This is not how we should act!

Currupaco didn't care what the baboon said, and also began to imitate him. Roni withdrew, but first left a message:

- Friendship can't be bought. We have to conquer it with affection and respect. So, you will never have friends.

And he asked a question that left the parakeet thoughtful:

- Do you have friends?

After much reflection, Currupaco realized that the little monkey was right, because until today he had not conquered a single friend.

- First thing - he thought to himself - I'm going to apologize to whoever I've hurt. After, I will treat all my little animal brothers well, not repeating the mistakes I made until then. And I will also help everyone who needs help.

By doing this, in a short time, Currupaco had the friendship of everyone in the region. And he learned that he was much happier acting like this, in good and charity, than mistreating others.
