The Sheriff's mess

Luan was very fond of his dog Sheriff, who was smart and full of energy. They spent a lot of time playing together in the yard. Luan threw the ball away and Sheriff ran to get it.

Sheriff was very close to Luan and missed him when the boy was not at home.

Once, on a Sunday, Luan's parents announced that they were going to have lunch at her aunt Irene's house and spend the afternoon there with her family.

Luan was happy, because he loved to meet his cousinsand Aunt Irene made delicious food. But soon the boy remembered Sheriff, who did not like to be alone and used to be sad and howl a lot when that happened.

But he couldn't take Sheriff with them, because he was a big dog. And Aunt Irene was afraid of dogs. So, Luan thought of leaving him inside the house while they were away. That way, he would be quiet, without disturbing the neighbors, and happy to be able to enter the house, something he could never do.

Luan's mother did not like the idea.

- Come on, mom! Poor Sheriff! What´s the problem to let him in just today? - Luan insisted.

The mother eventually agreed. When they left, Luan put the Sheriff's rug in the room. He set aside his bowls of food and water and called the dog inside. Sheriff came extremely happy, wagging his tail. Luan made him lie down on the carpet, pleased his head and said:

- Be nice, okay?

The family locked the door and went for their appointment.

When they returned in the late afternoon, Luan opened the door running to find Sheriff. But he stopped suddenly, not knowing what to say.

The house was all dirty. The water and food vessels, overturned. The two plant pots in the room, overturned. The plants, destroyed. The potting soil scattered around the room. There were footprints all over the house and pee on the curtain.

Luan barely managed to enter the house without stepping on the dirt. Her mother, when she saw that, was furious and ran after Sheriff, who went out to the yard.

Luan's father was more practical. As soon as he saw the mess, he said:

- Yeah! Now we learned that it is not an option to leave the Sheriff alone inside. And there is no point in complaining either. Let's clean up and period That's what needs to be done so that we can rest and start the week well tomorrow. Let's go!

The family then went to work. They collected the land, took the curtain to wash, mopped the floor and took the Sheriff's things out.

After a while, everything was ready.

The next day, Luan's mother called the boy.

- Son, help me here. Let's replant the pots. Look at this beautiful seedlings! Our neighbor has very beautiful plants that I have always admired. As we will need to plant others, I remembered to ask her for some seedlings.

The room's curtain had to be cleaned for a long time. Now that It was smelling pee, it couldn't be postponed anymore. After it was washed, it was very beautiful, clean and smelling.

On the floor, they used a cleaning product to help to complete the cleaning and not leave any stains from the previous day.

When Luan's father arrived home in the late afternoon, he opened the door and felt how pleasant the atmosphere was. The satisfying aroma of cleanliness, the beautiful plants adorning the room and the impeccable floor.

- Wow! What a clean and beautiful house!

Then, to complete the renovation of the room, the mother bought pillows and a soft rug, matching the decor.

The next weekend, the room was much more cozy than before.

Luan's father said jokingly:

- If I knew the room would look like this, I would have let the Sheriff in before!

Everyone laughed, but intimately recorded a learning experience: no one purposely looks for something that seems bad. But, when the situation happens, things can get even better than before, if we act with positive attitudes.
