The Yellow

There are many colors in the world. And they are all special. They help to make things more beautiful, to distinguish them and to send messages.

All colors are important. But there was a time when Yellow was not well regarded by the other colors. Some thought it was very extravagant, and others that it was ugly.

With no respect, the other colors kept saying:

“I don't want to be close to Yellow. It doesn't match my beauty!”

“Who likes Yellow? The best thing it does is mix with red to become orange.”

“Did you notice how Yellow makes things ugly? It is no wonder that there is almost nothing of that color.”

“It always wants to attract attention. Being so ugly, it shouldn't be so showcased!”

There were so many mean comments that Yellow started to believe that it was really inferior to the other colors. Yellow felt rejected and despised by everyone.

One day, bored with this situation, it decided not to work anymore. It no longer wanted to appear, nor did it want to give color to anything else.

When they knew that nothing else would be yellow, the other colors didn't even care. They even thought it was a good thing.

And so, things that were yellow started to have a different shade. And the world started to change.

In a short time, there were no more yellow canaries in the branches of the trees.

A wide variety of beautiful flowers, such as orchids, dahlias, chrysanthemums, tulips, roses, daisies, sunflowers and many others have lost their color and part of their beauty.

Some trees, such as caesalpinia, trumpet tree, sweet acacia, also suffered the loss of their showy yellow flowers.

The sight of the yellowed wheat fields, swaying with the flow of the wind, left much nostalgia.

The chicks and ducklings, which were once seen from afar, looking like fluffy pompoms following their mothers, were no longer yellow.

The warning signal at traffic lights was no longer drawing so much attention.

Gold, a metal so precious that it embellishes precious jewels, no longer shone as before.

But the worst of all is that the Sun, the star-king who illuminates and gives life to our planet, was no longer yellow. The rays of sunlight that invaded the windows were no longer the same color or the same brightness, and they no longer brought so much warmth.

This changed the landscape of the Earth. Everything started to get darker and sadder, with less variety. No other color could replace Yellow and colorize things exactly as it did.

People, animals, plants and even other colors began to realize the beauty and importance that Yellow had. Everywhere, they began to make comments wishing it would return.

And there were so many regrets, so much homesickness and so many requests, that Yellow came back.

That day, everyone was happy with its presence, embellishing, brightening and highlighting things as only it knew how to do.

And that is how the other colors learned that everyone created by God is unique and important. Each one has a role to play in the world.

And, knowing this, they came to respect each other and lived in harmony, happily ever after.
