The Encoder

Eric was returning from evangelism class. His mother had recently heard from the spirit center through a friend. Since then, her family had been attending that institution to hear lessons and receive passes.

On the way home, the mother asked:

- How was the class today, dear? Did you learn anything new?

- Yes mom. The class was about Allan Kardec - replied Eric.

- I’ve heard about that name in the lecture I attended - commented the father - I think he wrote the Spirits' Book, which started the Spirit Doctrine. Allan Kardec must be the inventor of Spiritism!

- No, Dad! - the boy said quickly - Teacher Natalie explained this to us well. He cannot be called an "inventor", because the ideas of Spiritism did not come from him. She made us repeat the word "encoder" with her. Then we all spoke together: "Allan Kardec was the encoder of Spiritism".

- Wow! I´ve never heard that word! Did she explain what this word mean? - Asked the mother, curious.

- Yes, she did! She gave us this activity for us to do. - said the boy, showing his mother what he had done - Each one had to assemble a puzzle with the pieces of cardboard and then stick it on this sheet.

The joined pieces formed the face of a man and the words: "Allan Kardec, encoder of Spiritism".

Eric then went on to say:

- Teacher Natalie explained that Allan Kardec gathered the teachings he received from the spirits, in the same way that we arranged the pieces of the puzzle. That's what encoding is: bringing everything together, forming one thing.

- It really does make sense. - said the mother - In the lectures I have attended, they explained that things like spirits, reincarnation and mediums have always existed, but were not well understood. As Allan Kardec was a researcher, he studied the manifestations of spirits and the knowledge they revealed. He realized that the information was related to each other and made sense, including the teachings of Jesus. That was how the Spirit Doctrine was formed!

- Yeah, by the way the encoder was really smart! - commented the father, with a smile - He did the most difficult part: he encoded the Spirit Doctrine and wrote the books. He made everything easier to us!

- It's true, and we have to study. Next Saturday we will be there at the spirit center again. Is it ok, Eric?

- It's fine with me, Mom! I enjoy the evangelization - Eric replied, smiling.

They arrived home and each one continued their routine activities.

In the following week, and in the weeks that followed, they maintained their commitment to study Spiritism and attend the spirit center. And they also did the gospel at home.

Eric's family realized that knowing the Spirit Doctrine is better to understand God´s Law and Jesus´s teachings. It means having more resources to understand life's actions and be happier.

All of us, whom know Spiritism, remember with gratitude the name of the encoder: Allan Kardec.
