Daniel and the butterfly

Daniel was doing his homework. He had to answer several questions and was not getting it because he did have read the text of the booklet.

- Mom! - He called, impatiently - I need help, please!

- What is it, dear? - Replied the mother, attentive.

- The teacher is very

demanding and bad.

These questions are very difficult, I don't know the answers. If I don't have help, I won't do the task. I'll leave blank the answers that I don't know, which are almost all, I’m already saying! - Said Daniel, muttering.

- Don't worry, honey, I will help you - said the mother.

Then she leaned over the sheets to understand what was happening and, after a few moments, spoke calmly:

- All the information you need is in the text, son. Just read it carefully.

- Only that? Won't you tell me the answers? - Daniel was annoyed.

- I'm sorry, my son. I cannot do the task for you. Otherwise, I will learn it and not you. I'm sure you can do it, come on!

The boy was disappointed and angry. In fact, he didn't accept that it needed to be that way. He thought his mother didn't want to help him.

The mother went attend her tasks. However, after a few minutes, she returned enthusiastically, saying:

- Daniel, come to the balcony, see something very interesting!

Arriving there, the mother pointed to a cocoon that was opening, with a butterfly still all shrunk trying to get out of it.

- How cool, mom! I have never seen a butterfly born! - Exclaimed the son, looking closely at the little insect. - But... won't we help her?

- What do you mean darling? - Asked the mother, stroking Daniel's hair.

- The butterfly is very small and weak, look at how it is squeezing to get out of the cocoon. If we don't open the cocoon for her, she will be trapped and will not be able to fly! - Said the boy, worried.

To Daniel's surprise, his mother hugged him and just kept looking at the little butterfly.

- Let's wait a little longer, son. Keep looking!

After a while, Daniel exclaimed in surprise:

- Mom! The butterfly is doing it! I can see her wings!

- It's true, honey! The force that the butterfly makes to get out of the cocoon moves her body and with that she manages to perfectly stretch her wings. In addition, other parts of her body only finish forming when she comes out of the cocoon. She needs to strive to stay healthy and survive.

Daniel was pensive. He thought that whenever someone had any difficulties, it would be better to get help, so they don't have to work hard or get tired.

- But, Mom, couldn't we help her with anything?

- Of course! We can protect the cocoon and take care of the flowers so she can feed herself later. But some challenges the little butterfly has to overcome alone. And people are like that too, right?

- Yes, I think so - said Daniel, remembering his school assignment. - Can I read the text of the assignment for you, Mom?

- Sure, sweetheart! - Replied the mother.

She followed her son into the house, smiling with satisfaction that Daniel had already learned an important lesson.
