The Hummingbird´s example

One day, in a very beautiful and wide forest where many animals lived, there was a great fire. The fire spread quickly, burning vegetation and producing a lot of smoke.

The frightened animals ran in fear to safer areas from where they watched with deep sadness their forest being destroyed.

It was when they saw the Hummingbird flying, passing by them several times. They realized that he was going to the nearby lake to take a few drops of water, return to the fire and let the water fall on the flames.

Hummingbird is a small bird and therefore carried a few drops which evaporated quickly in the strong heat of the fire. They were not enough to reduce the fire nor to put it down.

Seeing that, the animals wondered. While the bird was passing near them, one of them asked the Hummingbird:

- Why are you doing this? Do you really think you're going to be able to put out such big fire?

The little bird then landed next to them for a little rest and answered:

- I may not be able to do it alone but to keep my conscience peaceful, I must do my part.
